Thousands of police to lose jobs as forces feel the pinch

I do wish people would stop criticising the police and start criticising the government who are the people who have crippled them with bureauracy and legislation and forced them to work with criminals with one hand tied behind their backs. As somebody who happens to work quite closely with the police in a voluntary capacity and who sees close up the work that they do and the abuse that they have to put up with and turn the other cheek I'm sometimes surprised that we have any police left. When we have a government in power again that gives the police the authority and power to deal with criminals as they should be dealt with, that is when they can rightly be judged on their performance. When they are forced to spend hours at their desks filling in forms and ticking boxes to meet unrealistic politically correct targets instead of being out on the streets dealing with criminals, I think it behoves everybody to put them blame where it should rightly fall, and that is not the police.0

Exceedingly well, roared, I say.
The only thing I'd like to add is : merely criticising the government will accomplith nuthin'.
We, as the people, the electorate, should demand it. We should make the relevants party's next electorate win contingent upon it. We have every right to demand that our tax ££££ are used on an efficient, competent, highly trained and sufficiently staffed police force. We should not aquiesce in accepting that our current one is either scared snotless themselves in dealing with violent intruders or solidly buried in piles of pointless paperwork. And whose most thorough aspect of current training consists in a plethora of strategies in " first and foremost cover thy own a*s". Which is exactly what they do - they HAVE to if they still want to have a job next week.
THAT is unacceptable and citicism alone won't alter that. Time to get militant, me thinks. Law abidingly militant, of course.
And THEN things will change.0
