Thousands of police to lose jobs as forces feel the pinch

My "pathetic dispute" as you put it was actually a 40ft trailer load of computer gear with a retail value of £1.8m being emptied by an organised gang in the middle of the night. The bored female copper on the end of the phone told me that they didn't have any 'resources' available to deal with it at the moment (this while the crime was in full swing and a 2 minute drive from the cop station), to not put myself in any danger ( !!!!!! is that supposed to mean?) and they'd get someone out asap but 'it could be some time'.
Sorry for my lack of 'respect for law and order' as you put it, but tell me, just how serious does the crime have to be for them to put their fingers out of their !!!!!! and actually do some work?
And for the record, they never even turned up. I phoned them back later to ask what the status was and the most I got out of them was a crime reference number for the insurance company.
This is no isolated case either. I could reel off several other similar level crimes where they couldn't be arsed as well.
I stand by what I said - a complete waste of time and space the lot of them  .
Rob
i find them a great identifier of fists, they normally give people the service they deserve, it looks like you got the right service level.what is the plural of moose?

I always thought it was supposed to be the classless people (those on benefits) who were ambivalent about the police and the respect of them.
Hmmmmm, it appears not.
For the record, I support and respect our police force and understand the frustration they have with all the extra 'bits' they now have to do under the direction of government (which ever may be in power at that time). We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

lol - now that is an angry rant!!!
I think snooze must of got a speeding fine or something

Edit: I've read a bit further and see it was a bit more serious than that..."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -

Indeed.
Snooze really ought to watch what he says as he might get his collar felt..."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -
Is our police force a national joke?
Yes, to a certain extent I think it is.... but it isn't their own fault. It's impossible, or at least hellishly difficult, to respect an authority figure without any overt authority.
I'll never get my head round the arguments why it should be beneficial to have unarmed police. What are they supposed to do when confronted with violent people? Give them a jolly good talking to? Yea, that's REALLY intimidating for criminals. Fill out forms and more forms? Plus, they are bound and gagged to the max with oh-so-pc- mandates.
The real !!!!!! are the government who made our police a castrated laughing stock via rendering them neigh to powerless. The poor sods have to address abusive morons as "Sir" whilst having to accept to chirpily be called every name under the sun.
If I was in the police...I'd rather go after motorist mobile phone users and guard peaceful demonstrations instead of mincing it unarmed with some low-lifes, thanks very much. Give them some power and authority and THEN criticise them for not doing their job if necessary.0 -
neigh to powerless? probably the mounted police.....0

Completely agree. I have seen enough episodes of roadwars and of that ilk to see that this is true. Man steals a car, police catch him conversation goes a bit like this
Copper-" Excuse me sir would you mind stepping out of the vehicle for me"
Crim " ****you i aint **** listening to you you **** **********"
Copper " If you could please do as I ask and step out of the vehicle for me"
Crim "**** **** **** " you **** ********"
Copper - if you dont choose to step out of the vehicle, you may need to know we maty choose to use physical power to remove you rfrom the vehicle do you understand that"
Crim steps out of the car.
Cop " thanks for that sir, now if you wouldnt mind placing your palms on to the vehicle for me a moment whilst we take a look at the vehicle"
Crim " you aint going in that car you **** *********** "
Cop- " please sir, you need to tone your language down, im not swaering at you, so please dont swear at me" etc etc etc
:wall:
Why dont they just throw crims to the floor and get on with the job instead of prancing around with niceties? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

A tazer would dispense with a lot of that.
Cop: "Please step away from the car"
Crim: "F*** you you F***ing F***. Arrrrrrrrgh **** **** **** ****. Arrrrrrgh.
There are certain human rights issues however. People in London who aren't white may well come under the Met's definition of who's tazerable for example. Experience tells us that is likely to be the case.0 -
I agree. I doubt you saw it Gen as it was I rthink after youd left but there was a prog on not long ago with louis theroux ( swoon) who went with the police in IIRC detroit
It was fantastic to see a police force thats not naffing around apologising for doing thier job. Straight away after I watched road wars thoough and felt thoroughly deflated. I watch a lot of these shows as I have a secret desire to be a copper
however, theres no way I can run over walls sunhill style
We have now set a new rule in the house, no police shows, its too depressing. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
