Thousands of police to lose jobs as forces feel the pinch

They are paid peanuts? Really - when you take into consideration their pension benefits and the level of education (which you imply they have).0

The police are the scum of the earth and I hope they all die  . They're just a bunch of power-tripping idiots and I hope they all get sacked because it certainly doesn't take the current number of them to answer a phone and trott out the standard lines "it's a civil matter sir" and "we don't have the resources".
Waste of space the lot of them.
And yes I did thank you by mistake cat695.

Glad to see you have respect for law and order and would rather live in a lawless society.....moron
Just because they would rather be catching real criminals and won't come and sort out your pathectic dispute you have a whole hatred for a police force.
It just shows what low intelligence you have.
And I don't give a rat a@ss if I'm thanked or not....my day will go on either way you muppet;)If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

Would you replace them with something else or just disband them?0 -

Perhaps. Traditionally Libertarians believe in freedom for policemen too but he could belong to a fringe group - anarchist Libertarians perhaps.0 -

For all the good they (don't) do I'd just disband them altogether. Let's face it, crime figures wouldn't be any worse because they don't do anything about the crime that is reported to them/that they know about already. At least without them innocent people wouldn't be getting beat up by them.

My "pathetic dispute" as you put it was actually a 40ft trailer load of computer gear with a retail value of £1.8m being emptied by an organised gang in the middle of the night. The bored female copper on the end of the phone told me that they didn't have any 'resources' available to deal with it at the moment (this while the crime was in full swing and a 2 minute drive from the cop station), to not put myself in any danger ( !!!!!! is that supposed to mean?) and they'd get someone out asap but 'it could be some time'.
Sorry for my lack of 'respect for law and order' as you put it, but tell me, just how serious does the crime have to be for them to put their fingers out of their !!!!!! and actually do some work?
And for the record, they never even turned up. I phoned them back later to ask what the status was and the most I got out of them was a crime reference number for the insurance company.
This is no isolated case either. I could reel off several other similar level crimes where they couldn't be arsed as well.
I stand by what I said - a complete waste of time and space the lot of them  .
