Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 23nd Feb. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning all...............(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one....
I have been to bed, just cannot sleep for some reason, might have something to do with OH snoring for England, so decided to make myself a cuppa and surf for an hour or so.
I down loaded the Amish programme from last week so might watch that again, or possibly surf some quilting sites, looking for inspiration for a quilt for our bed........my next scrappy project to help use up some of the vast amount of scraps I have that I am too mean to throw away.

Morning Csarina, hope you manage to get a few ZZzzzs in.
Puss14 - oh no, your poor wee cat! I hope your usual vet can sort something out for her.
I can't sleep either - I had three kitties nudging me from every angle cos they were hungry. Well excuse me! They are downstairs stuffing their cute little faces now.
The good news - don't get too excited, cos I'm not....I've started a temporary contract. It's not especially well paid but it is fairly close to where I live - at least I have some dosh coming in. I have to admit I find wo*k one of life's big let-downs...I have yet to achieve "job satisfaction" in my 20+ years in industry. I would love to be at home full-time - morally and financially I don't have that option, but it doesn't make the daily rat-race any easier to bear. It's the office politics which get to me. **Big deep breaths** I think I'll be buying some of those £1.00 hope tickets soon (otherwise known as doing the Lotto).
That is the end of my daily whinge:o:o
I think I'll try and get some more kip now...night all!
Snowy0 -
Good morning all. Puss - I am so sorry to hear about your poor cat. You must be so upset and angry. I do hope something can be sorted out.
Well, I didn't get a chance to come on here yesterday because I had family round for most of the day.
Snowy - I hope you find the perfect job soon.
I've just realised I haven't decided what's for dinner tonight. We have left over chicken from yesterday's roast so we'll probably have that cold with some chips and salad.
I'm finding it quite cold here this morning which is a bit of a shock after the mildness of the last couple of days.
I need to get the hoover out a bit later. Yesterday, DGS and DGD discovered the hole punch full of bits of paper and had a great time throwing 'confetti' at each other!
Well, I haven't read the thread properly for a couple of days. It's because DH has been home more than he's been at work, and we have been going through things that we no longer need and deciding what to sell. We gave DGD a nice little desk that we don't use so DS1 will be collecting that later. Other stuff we have listed on Gumtree. It's free to list and we've sold a couple of things on there. We have quite a bit of junk to sort through so, while he's home it's a good chance to declutter.
Anyway, time for another cuppa. See you later and I will try and catch up with everyone's news at some point. (((Hugs))) to all in need.

Good morning everyone and big, big (((((hugs))))) to those who need one. Puss14, I do hope the vet is able to help your little cat.
I haven't had chance to read the rest of yesterday's thread. We did manage to get out for the afternoon yesterday and we had a lovely time.
Back to work today. Weekends are so lovely. I'm fine once I get into work, I just prefer being at home
I'll be rummaging through the freezer shortly for some of our soup, flat bread and some muffins for lunch. Looking at what needs to be used up in the fridge, I think it will be bacon omlette tonight with some stir fried vegetables.
We'll be doing the ironing tonight as we decided to watch a dvd last night instead. OH and I share the ironing between us and we've decided that we need a routine to get it done in order not to let it build up.
Have a lovely OS day everyoneEnjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Morning peeps
i was MIA yesterday due to spending all day in the garden. Mr Sunny and i dug up 4 large shrubs and did lots of weeding. Weather permitting i shall be back out there today preparing the ground for my fruit shrubswe have an archway at the side of the house with a gate which is usually padlocked so that no one can walk down to the back garden, we unlocked it yesterday to wheel the garden bin through to the front and the gate fell off  we had to borrow a drill as ours is too fast for brickwork apparently and rehang the gate. Its all ok now and it actually better that it was before. I was panicking in case we made a mess of it and wouldn`t be able to close the gate.:o
Well i`ve ruined the GC for this month, i completely forgot to get the pork out of the freezer yesterday, it was late by the time we had finished outside so we rang for a takeaway. Glad its ages since we had one though - the prices have shot up.
This morning i have a special treat, i`m off to the dentist to have a filling and a tooth repaired that i`ve broken the back off. I don`t like going and am quite nervous so i shall have to put my brave face on.
Tired Mum - ((((HUGS)))) for your dd
Puss14 - Hope that your cat is ok, we had a misdiagnosis years ago with one of our furrys. If i could have got hold of the vet i wouldn`t like to think what i would have done to him. It still upsets me now. ((((HUGS)))) for your furry one.
I need to go sort out my hair, it looks as if birds have been nesting in it :rotfl:
Catch up later peeps, have a good day.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all
I'm off to work soon, I'll be wearing a tin hat ready for when the bursar sees the layout in my room.
Snowey, I'm with you on work, the only time I really enjoyed it was when I ran my own business.
BIL 1 rang on Friday, wanted hubby to work today, but he's not paid his phone bill (again) so hubby has no way of contacting him to find out if it's still on.
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - sarnies
Tea - fish pie
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
Kathy, I thought it was colder here too, I have woken up cold for the first time in ages, lets hope we are not in for another cold snap.
Puss, poor kitty, I hope all turns out well xx
Snowy, good luck with the job.
I have not had a good nights sleep, was awake for most of it, so i think I will take it a bit easy today, I need to tidy through and put a wash on, and do an online shop, I should make soup too, but we will see
Tonight we are having lasagne, which my dd made yesterday, she asked to be taught how to cook it, so there is another she can now cook, I try and teach her something every week. So dinner tonight is very easy :T , just some salad to prepare.
Yesterday I spent the afternoon chopping and cooking onions, a few weeks ago OH bought a sack on onions which have been great, but they are staring to go soft, so rather than chuck them:money: , I now have 11 bags of cooked onions in the freezer, I have no idea if it freezes ok, but we will see.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning,
Gosh isn't it nice to wake up and find it almost light? I've been getting up late all last week 'cos of half-term so it's a nice surprise to find it isn't pitch-black at 6.45 am.
I'm about to make the kids some porridge. After I've taken dd to school I'll go for a 2 mile walk. Going to try and fit this in every weekday;)
I have French later this morning, must remember to ask my teacher to check the forms I've been sent for our holiday (booked a gite in normandy) then I'll grab a quick lunch and relax for an hour before fetching dd.
Supper tonight is chickpea and veg stew plus couscous.0 -
Morning All
Puss14 - hope the tests at the vets go well (((hugs)))
Just a quick one today as have so much to do. Need to drop a van at the fitters with OH, its right by Lakeside so will be popping in there. OH needs to buy me a birthday pressie, need to get my sisters pressie and OH needs a new shirt.
Have loads of paperwork to get through so there wont be too much OS today.
Tagletelli with cream, ham & mushrooms for tea.
Need to get on with making the kids lunches.
Have a great day.

Morning everyone!!! well you've managed it again! You've helped motivate me out of bed, lol. Have read a few posts
s briefly over the weekend, but not had time to reply I'm sorry. Here's the post I made for Saturday but didn't feel was appropriate to post at the time -
It was lovely to have such a warm welcome back, thank you so much everyone.
Moggins - what makes you think your so special girly..... ok, twas you and seeing all the well wishes to you had gotten me worried, lol. BEsides, wasn't my shell my head was up if you remember - but then I guess we'd get thrown off for saying where it really was ;-)
Twink - if you like ginger I came up with a lovely drink when we all had nasty colds - grate or finely chopp a lump of ginger (specific ammounts as you can tell) and drop into a carton of cheap apple juice. Leave to infuse then enjoy - either warm or cold. Totally deliciouse!
Reverbe - I could really relate to what you said about post hoarding. We tend to get ours in 'batches' - and worse still I've even known it arrive smelling strongly of cigarette smoke!
Annie star - what recording? I know that maybe I should read through old posts, but knowing OS threads it'll take me an eternity to find and I have the curiosity of a cat! I've read through the Friday daily thread and the closest 'whiff' I got was 'that' show, and that 'it' was on at 7.30 lol. Wannabe sybil - you had me rocking with your comments of 'clean footprints' etc - thank you.
.... I wonder if it'll make sense to anyone now lol
I still haven't worked out what show our Star Annie was on... maybe someone can whisper it to me?
Anyway, on with today...
Puss 14 - I'm not suprised you are angry and upset. (((hugs)))
Snowy - Good luck with the new job, I really hope you're going to enjoyithea!!!
Morwenna - still thinking of you, hope you and your family are coping x
No idea what's for tea tonight I'm afraid, and I'm not even going to consider it until this evening because as soon as I've dropped off my boys I'm heading down the lottie. I really have to finish my trench asap so I can start leveling it back off ready for my spuds. I've three bread trays on the kitchen table filled with chitting spuds - and I desperately need my table back ...... to start sowing my seeds,
I have to admit though - reading the daily thread has also woken the cook in me and she is starting to yell that she wants to express herself too, lol. Go to sleep girly - there's too much to do at the old lottie!!!lol
Anyway, hugs to all and hopefully over the next week or so I'll start to catch up with all on here.

OH dear! Wasn't looking forward to today, back to work. Have only done 2 days since I went off sick 5 weeks ago, had 3 weeks off sick, worked a week (which is only 2 days for me at the moment) then had a week half term. Not very happy there at the moment, but count myself lucky to have a job.
DH didn't get the job that he was practically promised. Agency told him on Friday night, so he's been like a bear with a sore head. Still, he still has a job, but not sure how secure that is either.
Maybe that's why I've been filling the cupboards and the freezer. Have done it without going over budget, so maybe the budget is too high! Spent the day cooking and cleaning yesterday.
Went to see Slumdog Millionaire last night, having failed on Saturday night as it was full. I hated it, the violence/cruelty to small children, the poverty, it was also very loud. I usually enjoy the cinema, but not this time.
Tea will be home made Pizza as decreed by ds on his menu plan for this week. Lunch for me is spicy parsnip soup that I got out of the freezer last night - how organised is that?
Need to get ready, will look back later/"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
