Welcome Kaja :hello:
Bargainbird and Csarina:rotfl::D
:j Dave is back! :j
The present from the auction was a huge toy gorilla that he bought from a charity auction in a pub. He also bought a huge toy teddy (so the gorilla wouldn't get lonely ) and assorted other tat including: a sudoku mug, a sudoku jigsaw puzzle, some porcelain mugs, a set of self-help audio cassettes, and a box of mills & boons books.
He admitted he bought these things 'because they were cheap', 'because it was for charity' and 'because they were so crap it was funny'.
He paid the grand total of £1.20 for the lot, so I'm trying to see the funny side, although I expect you had to be there, and not to be too bothered that he's bringing all this tat into my house faster than I can declutter it. He's just told me he thinks he can sell it all at a profit at a car boot sale...
Men. I thought I had him trained as well :wall:0 -
Oh I haven't seen Shez about for yonks!
:bdaycake: Happy birthday if you're out there Shez :hello:0 -
Happy Birthday Shez from me too if you're reading.
Redruby - yep, suppose it is a bit of a shame, but that's the way it seems to go. Still, I figure by getting out & meeting people there's more chance of something happening, than sitting at home moping about it!! Hi everyone,
Just read 2 and a half days threads right through and need to send condolences to Morwenna - what a shock at that age.
DH and I went to London to see DD yesterday - she's 26 tomorrow:eek: . We had a lovely OS wander round Broadway market and then took her for lunch before coming home because she had to go to work (mind you, her work was spending a couple of hours at a wine tasting so it can't have hurt too much.
By the time we got home though i was feeling terrible, I have spells when I just seem to lose any strength in my muscles and I hurt all over - I've never had a diagnosis I just have to lie down till I feel better.
As a result DH went to Sainsbugs with a short list of items to buy - he came back and said that he'd remembered to buy dishwash tabs because he'd seen we were running short  . He'd paid £9.00 for 42 when I have five packs of the same brand in the cupboard bought at £4.00 for 57. Men!!!
Have done the washing and ironing and watched a great programme on the history of home dressmaking which brought back a lot of memories for me because my mum used to make all my clothes when I was little.
Sorry for the long ramble.
Sue
PS well done Anniestar, I wish I had the courage to do it.0 -

Hi soba - haen't seen you posting for a while, hope everything goes to plan with your new kitchen
Well it's been quite an eventful day as predicted. I'm left with a kitchen a quarter the size I'm used to and of course there's stuff everywhere!! I'm quite jealous of anyone having anything cooked in the oven or on the hob! Tea tonight for the family was waffles (done in the toaster), fish fingers grilled in the microwave and tin spaghetti. I had microwaved salmon, microwaved jacket spud and microwaved peas!! Think there's a bit of a theme brewing there:rotfl:
And OMG they've taken the dishwasher out and it was full of dirty dishes so now I've got all that to wash, ironing for back to school tomorrow, lunches to make etc etc etc.
Enjoy the rest of your evening and don't worry about us whilst you're eating your pies, casseroles and roasts!!0 -

The new cooker has passed its first tests, the chicken was beautifully cooked, but it did not brown the skin, I used a roasting bag for it, not that I am bothered, if the bags keep the oven clean more power to their elbow.......so both top and bottom oven have passed the tests. I did manage to set the oven wrong but it did switch on and switch off as it should. The roasties and stuffing balls were great too.......I am looking forward to cooking more things in both ovens.........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0
