I've got to admit, I don't know about these things and I enjoy all manner of weird combinations, but to me flaky pastry sounds the way to go. Puff pastry is lighter but I don't do puff 'cos I can't make it at home. Short or hot water crust sounds a bit too heavy for such a rich filling.

Mmmm sounds gorgeous anyway. My tea tonight will be a bit less exotic. We're having lemon pepper meatballs and spaghetti. I might push the boat out and make garlic bread, but probably not.

Have you got any of those mini pudding basins bargainbird? I'd do a few individual ones in those with a suet pastry then freeze the spares..will make such a luscious filling go much further :D
What time are we all due for tea??;) :D

Sorry been awol but can't ever get control of a pc during the hols and with OH being home too I've got NO chance..
All are due back to school/work tomorrow so plan a day of sitting on my butt catching up..and maybe a 'little' bit of cleaning :o
  • Hi everyone!

I have lurked around these boards so long, I'm bordering on stalking......

So, eventually decided to post....lazy day today....DD1 gone to help her friend's dad man his stall at 'Self Build Show' (!), DD2 still not back from sleepover, so it's just DD3, DH & DM who always comes for Sunday dinner as she lives alone.

Roast chicken is in oven, serving with pots, broccoli (only veg DD3 will eat!) & mashed turnip - yum!

DH is ironing - his regular weekend help with the housework, bless him! I have just taken advantage of the £2 chickens & pasta/sauce offers in Asda by doing online shop - ordered quite a few of the pasta/sauce offers, so wonder if they'll let me have them all, or is there a limit??

And I have rambled on....anyways, hoping to get some more brilliant tips on here! You all seem a super friendly bunch! :D

As far as I know the only thing they limit is the chickens, I think you can only buy 3 for £2. A friend who shops at Asda each week also ot me 4 bottles of the pasta/chicken sauce thingy........and also Asda custard, she says its very good, so I am going to give it a try myself......OH loves custard he would have it on everything if I let him:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I wish I had bought more of the butter now and stuck it in the freezer.......

Oh my goodness :j :j how exciting, let us know how you get on, and be carefull, ( I sound like your mother !! :D ) xx

Lol, I don't tell my mother anymore..!!!! (Not if I'm just going to meet someone for a coffee & to see if there's any chemistry). It's hard enough to have a private life with my family as it is....

Anyhow, been out, had coffee, had a chat - nice enough chap, but no chemistry.... And for me, if there's no hint of a spark of attraction, then that's not something that can be manufactured. It either is or it ain't!!! Membership on there has run out for now & I'm going to be so busy finishing Uni/Placement/Dissertation next 3 months or so, I'll worry about having a life after that...;)

Bargainbird - I've have gone for puff pastry too....
Before I went out oldest DD was starting off the roast chicken dinner & by the time I got back it was all done & dished up - and very tasty too!!! So she can do that more often..lol
