No, having sites stored as Favourites does not slow up your web browser. 2 megs is not the fastest conection possible, but for normal web surfing it should be adequate. Test your speed on this link:

RAM upgrade will probably be between £20 and £40 depending on the age of your system, the Crucial scanner will give you all the options. You can then buy it cheaper on eBay, but you need to know what you are buying. Probably less than the cost of one month's Sky subscription if you look at it that way.

my sx is 3 yrs old now  l will have a look on it , but financially its a no no
lve just had to go on to esa as my sick pay has run out so money is v tight

upgrading you RAM isn't as costly or scary as you think. i doubled mine from 256 to 512mb for less than a tenner when mine ground to a halt.

No your favorites stored will not slow down the pc, definately sounds like a ram issue or malaware

that price sounds managable . l still need to check out the maleware thingies:o

thanks for that l actually feel like l know what im talking about thanks to u guys:A :A

  • out of curiosity, i looked on ebay, there is quite a few 256 ram for £1 ending soon, with no bids.
but you need to find out exactly what you need with the scanner mentioned in previous posts.

Why do you think your speeds are bad? Your download speed is 6.5 MBps, which is very fast (given that the maximum theoretical speed you can get on your service is 8MBps-no-one actually gets this speed). The upload speed is about right, it's always much slower than the download speed. If web pages are slow to load then most likely this is due to other problems on your PC, i.e. inadequate RAM or malware infection. Clear the malware by following the advice given earlier in this thread. If things have not then improved I recommend you upgrade the RAM to at least 512MB-this will not be expensive.

Your speeds are fine. You are presumably on the Sky BB 'Mid' package which is up to 8MB. Yes, start with the malware and then address the lack of RAM.
PS: you also appear to have a severe case of 'smilie infestation'. Sadly I know of no software that can cure this, but maybe someone else can offer a solution?

Sky Connect is an up to 8MB service, but not cheap at £17pm (if that is what you are paying). See if any other suppliers offer an LLU service at your exchange, if so you can certainly get a better rate than that.
Or if you are out of contract on Connect, give them a call, say you have a better offer from wherever, and ask them what they can do for you to keep your business.
