Does anyone know if there is a glitch with the 60 day rule where if a book doesn't sell after 60 days it's ended?
I've had books on since April which haven't sold but are still in my current inventory as avaliable?
I'm confused have they changed the rules??0 -
They haven't officially changed the rules but they no longer appear to delist items after 60 days.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I need help.
I sold something made out of glass , sent on 1.10.09 first class ( wraped in bouble wrap) and now I got email that it arrived broken. I find it hard to believe that she only got it today ( more likely used it nad droped it , now wants a refund).
Can anyone point me in the right direction as what to do with this. Is there a dedline when a cusstomer can claim?
Any help with this , please?0 -
If it is Amazon your buyer is almost certainly guaranteed a refund. However, the correct procedure is to ask her to retain all packaging and to photograph the damage and go from there.
Incidentally, what postal service did you use.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There has been strikes in parts of the country so it could have taken two weeks. You have no evidence that she dropped it. Most people are generally honest0 -
It was royal mail. So she is meant to take a picture of the dammage and send it to me or Amazon?0

The photos are for you, but most breakable items are not cover standard mail so the possibility of a claim from you to RM is not assured. Usually where a claim from RM is made the seller requires photos of the packaging and the damaged items and then once RM acknowledge the claim the originals can all be sent in .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hello everyone. I need some help/reassurance!!
I recently bought approx 750 used books that I was going to re-sell at carboots and markets etc. However the last 2 carboots I did the books did not sell very well (people wanting something for nothing!) and the cold weather has now put me off!. So after reading the threads on here I thought I'd give Amazon a go. So I paid the £28.75 to become a pro-merchant, (I figured this would be the best thing to do considering how many books I have to sell) and started listing the books.
A couple of questions (apologies if the answers are already on here);
So I started at 9am this morning and its now 6pm and I've listed around 100 books. Can anyone tell me of a quicker way to list them? I've heard you can use a scanner but does this really make much of a difference? and if I was to buy a scanner, what kind am I looking for that I can just plug in and go with Amazon?
Every seller seems to have a different page to me when you click on delivery rates under the item they are selling. they all have marketplace delivery rates as a bold title where as when you click on delivery rates under my name it doesn't have that title. Does anyone know why I'm different to everyone else? lol
And finally, Should I have not sold at least 1 thing by now? I'm getting worried that i'll put all this time and effort into this for nothing. I know it takes time but I guess I thought with over 100 books on here so far I might have sold 1 or 2!.
I'm looking to go into the book business long term after being made redundant recently (by another company using the recession as an excuse for some culling!) and will be buying in some new books very soon to sell on Amazon and other places on and offline but I don't have alot of time and need to start earning soon.
I would love to hear from anyone with any hints or tips or stories to tell about there own book businesses. And anyone who can stop me losing faith in selling on Amazon so quickly!
You'll probably say I'm being impatient and freaking out, but any reassurances would be extremley appreciated.
I very much look forward to hearing from anyone soon.
Thankyou.0 -
Welcome to MSE and to the Amazon thread, many of us here are quite dedicated sellers!
The first few posts on this thread will give you the basics but can I offer some quickk advice. Frstly, you don't need to be a pro merchant to sell on Amazon, the charge will be levied monthly so you need to decide if it is worth it, the difference between pros and non pros is that non pros pay an additional 83p per book in fees. So the quick way of working it out is to say that you need to sell 30 books a month to make being pro a good idea.
100 books a day isn't bad listing wise for a new lister, you'll get quicker over time. I don't use a scanner but I'm sure those that do can help you with model numbers and such like.
Soe questions for you now, how are you setting your prices? We all have our methods but the one thing to remember is that Amazon will show you before you hit confirm what yur total reimbursement will be, make sure you weigh your book before you opt to list as your postage needs to come out of that figure. I reckon that for some of the stock I buy I can list as little as 20%, the other 80% not being economical for me to sell. Check your rankings as well, if it is in the hundreds, (and not cheaper on Amazon!) then it should go in a couple of days, in the thousands then you are looking at a few weeks, start pushing 100,000 + and it may be some time. Again where some hit the million mark I would only list if there are no other copies for sale, or very high cost ones.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
