Selling Your Stuff on Amazon Part 12 - Advice for newbies in first two posts

Thanks Becky & JesaRose,
The seller has listed around 50 books and so far IF (!!!!!) I sold the ones I have been able to trace they woudl sell at around £300 (which I would pay the postage out of) - I have about half a dozen which need some more research to find.
I was thinking of offering around £100 - the seller has not hinted at how much they would want yet, but my feeling is that with that amount we would make about the same each (providing I got buyers of course).
I think I make a rubbish business women, as I am anxious to make sure the seller gets a reasonable fee, but when I think of offering £100 against books which MAY sell for £300 it seems a bit miserly if you know what I mean.
I think I may ask them if they are looking for a certain amount to begin with - thanks Becky
Any more points etc gratefully received

In relation to the "buyer waiting", I sourced something off the list have been decreasing it by 50p every couple of hours is available to all destinations and has not gone as yet! Before it used to virtually guarantee a sale within the hour!
Well I got fed up of reducing it so put it back up to the original price it sold at 11pm to USA, so I assume there are buyers waiting (but no longer a sign) as this was not a common item, I just have to be more patient!!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Apologies if this has been done before but wading through 12 Threads of 60 pages each is a bit too much.
Anyway, I currently have a private account with Amazon on which I buy books to read. Can I set up a separate selling account using my same name and address but with different bank account details ? The different bank account details will be my business account.
My aim is to start off as a normal seller and see if I can increase sales to a point where I can upgrade to a Pro-merchant account at a later date and I don't want to risk anything happening to my long established private account.
Before anyone points it out I'm already registered with HMRC as self employed.
Look forward to your replies.

Amazon is definitely glitchy, I followed the old urban myth suggestion about being on the wrong server, and put my listings on holiday . Reset them live after 30 minutes and got 3 sales in the next couple of hours.
Thanks soolin - I gave my listings a half hour holiday, then had 2 sales after the worst drought ever. Not a myth after all?0 -

I've been having a look at my seller metrics to see how they look. Can anyone tell me what level Amazon consider unsatisfactory in performanceNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550

I don't know if it s the same metrics as required for selling toys, but this is the email I got from them and ball park figures might be gleaned from it:
No greater than 1% short term defect rate
- No greater than 2.5% pre-fulfilment cancel rate
- No greater than 5% late shipment rateI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. These are the performance targets given in in the Customer Metrics summary page (EDIT - they are the same as you posted above):
Order defect rate: < 1%
Pre-fulfilment cancel rate: < 2.5%
Late shipment rate: < 5%
But they don't give one for refunds. Do you think order defect rate would include refunds as the other two are given above https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/customer-experience/summary.html/ref=sm_custmetric_smap_homeNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -

I think you can and am sure I've read about Amazon sellers having a separate buying account as there are feedback concerns with using a seller account to buy. To double check what the criteria are, if any, prob best to contact Customer Service for advice.0 -

Yes you can, I found out by accident when I restarted selling a couple of weeks ago, (bear with me is a long story!)while I wasn't selling I couldn't remember my details to login as my email address had changed etc so opened a new account just to buy.
So when I decided to sell again I started putting the books for sale off this account which had no feedback, so I tried about 600 passwords for my old account and eventually got back in, I then changed the email address from that one to my new details which it took and I started to list a few on there, however they did not show up.
I emailed them and after 48 hours got no response so unlisted them and put them back onto the account with no feedback. After 3 days they sent me an email to say they had reissued 2 new passwords one for each account but both running off the same email address, so once again I unlisted off the no feedback account which I can now use to buy from and put them back on the account with feedback, and I have seperate details for both.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.
