Have bitten the bullet and gone for a pro merchant account! Can anyone point me in the direstion of the buyer waiting lists as I have been trying all day and can't find it!
As for Ler's comment above I have had about 40 boxes, gone through 11 boxes so far and will have covered my costs by selling on both Amazon and Ebay (wherever the better price is!). So everything else hopefully will be profit!

I have never found that list, sorry.

Being pro merchant does concentrate the mind as sales become more important and you need to cover your fees. I found I was actually much more pro active once I had decided to really go for it. You just need 30 sales a month to break even on the fees, after than you are in profit being a pro merchant.

I did very well last week, I sold 20 books in a 5 day period, but the last sale now was on Saturday at 8am and I've had nothing since :(

I've actually delayed going to the Post Office as I keep thinking that I must get a sale soon.

I had a great weekend on ebay for books though, a good dozen + sales on things I wasn't really expecting to sell at all.

I have only sold 2 so you are doing better than me!!

Found the list eventually, only nothing on the list is showing as having a buyer waiting when you check on Amazon, have they stopped putting the "buyer waiting" sign up?

There were some questions about that on the Amazon board and no one seemed to have seen 'buyer waiting' in ages so they may have stopped it? Might be worth an email to CS to ask.... Good luck with your listing and sales, have you given up your other job now?

Still no sales here and I think there may be some glitches again as my listings are coming and going, I have stuff listed 8 months ago that have suddenly apeared at the top of my listings page as though they have only just been listed.

Have just been asked if I am interested in purchasing some books from a personal library :j

They are mainly pre ISBN 1st editions and although I have mangaed to trace most and see what they are fetching on various internet sites I was wondering how much to actually offer for them.

Does anyone here on the boards have any experience in buying from individuals like this and if so how do you make an offer without feeling you are ripping the seller off as it were - ie giving a fair price whilst still being able to make a decent profit!

Any advice or pointers gratefully received

Not given up my other job yet, is a very long and boring story and have to sort out other commitments first. However have thought long and hard about it over many months and I estimate there will be an overlap period of about 4 months until I get the books up and running again.

In relation to the "buyer waiting", I sourced something off the list have been decreasing it by 50p every couple of hours is available to all destinations and has not gone as yet! Before it used to virtually guarantee a sale within the hour!

Has he/she given you a rough idea of what they would like for them? If not maybe ask them what sort of amount they were looking for and negotiate from there.

Perhaps you could give them a certain amount per book. When we recycle books at the charity I work for they pay us 3p per book. Thats only for recycling though so not really much help I guess but I keep telling their boss he should look into Amazon as although we use it and check our books, a lot of other charities which they get stock from do not

Amazon is definitely glitchy, I followed the old urban myth suggestion about being on the wrong server, and put my listings on holiday . Reset them live after 30 minutes and got 3 sales in the next couple of hours.
