Be careful about wrapping in envelopes , Amazon buyers are very fussy and the last thing you want is to lose a star because some one thinks the packaging insufficient.

Interestingly there is a thread on greenmetropolis at the moment about wrappping just in thick brown paper or manilla envelopes as many buyers even there say they think that is insufficient for a book to arrive safely, yet it is the wrapping advice given by Greenmet.

Hello, yes you can refund through Amazon at any point - make sure you use the drop down menu giving reasons. You don't want too many refunds tho as they can affect your Metrics :p. I believe that the recent industrial action by RM has resulted in back logs of mail in some areas so it could be held up by that. If your buyer seems reasonable you could ask them to check at the sorting office to see if its there or wait a bit longer. Sounds like you are keen to refund sooner rather than later tho? Good luck with the sales too

I just sent you a really long reply and it disapeared so I am just going to submit this first....

Thanks Teapot - I asked the buyer to wait until this mornings post and I am still waiting to hear but will just refund as soon as she replies. She did seem reasonable but you never know....I think I made about £4 so its not too bad a loss. I think I was getting slightly muddled with the lower limit of a RM claim.

Meanwhile the dearth of sales continues..........

Thanks for your good wishes and may the selling fairy visit us all:D

I'm just doing a partial stock take and I see that Amazon are their usual 'on theball' self. Slow pages and half my stock listed can't be found at all even though it is there when I look for it as a buyer.

It really gets me that we blame ebay for every little error that creeps in yet we let Amazon get away with a service that is barely adequate for even the most basic of listings.

Hello all, have been absent from here for quite some time and stopped selling books about 18 months ago. However I have decided to start again but to do it full time and give up my job due to personal circumstances. I have about 1500 or so here to start with from my old stock.
Last time I was on here I bought books from a supplier recommended on the thread, however I cannot remember for the life of me where they were from, have trawled through the 7 threads I was involved in but cannot find it, and was wondering if from the details anyone can remember and point me in the right direction.
I believe the sellers name was Clive, it is in England (that narrows it down lol!), it was near a racecourse, and their warehouses were tunnel arches. And they had a good computer programme for uploading the books onto Amazon if you bought from them.
Not much to go on I know but that is as much as my addled brain can remember.
    Thanks in advance.

    P.S. Where did AT go?
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

    Hi Becky,

welcome back - good luck with going full-time. Think you might be meaning Priority Books who sold pallets? They are not in the business anymore. Keep an eye on the Amazon seller's forum as pallets come up there sometimes or job lots. The latest big seller is Daleside who are doing job lots but they got a bit inundated so not sure whats happening now but contact them anyway. There was also a seller closing down and selling her stock recently on the seller connection so have a look. Teapot

Every time I try and reply screen goes blank, so this may be third response! Am quaking in my boots about doing it full time, am giving up a career in midwifery as I am totally disillusioned by NHS, I did very well doing it part time, just hope I can make it into a full time career!
Have managed to find my old seller account on Amazon (taken me 2 days!), how do I find the forums to get more stock, been trying all afternoon! Thanks in advance.

  • Becky, good luck with your new venture. By the way Priority's name was Chris. AT just stopped coming here, she was going to focus on her Ebay work.

Hi Becky, you can find the forums by going to your seller account, there is a link on the lefthand side of the page which says 'visit our seller discussion boards'. If you click on it it takes you though to 'seller announcements' first then there is a link above the announcements on the left 'seller connection' which will take you to the boards. There are various ones - worth looking at 'seller connection' to see who is selling and look back a few pages as they move down quite quickly. The boards are unmoderated and not always very friendly - quite frankly they seem to implode into nastiness and outrageous comments about every 6 months although its largely peaceful at the moment. Don't be put off by any of it as there are some very helpful people there. I posted on the 'help for new sellers' board for the first few months until I found my forum feet and dared to post in seller connection. I just stay out of the nastiness and don't let it bother me! If you still can't find the forums post again as you can also get into them via the help pages.

I suspect that to earn enough to live on could be quite tough as many sellers have reported a fall off in sales mind you others have found the opposite. I don't know what kind of books you were selling before? A lot of job lots/pallets are 1p books from my limited experience. You do need a lot of fresh stock to be coming in so need to set up a regular supply if possible. I wish you lots of luck with it and hope it works out.ps there are a few ex NHS staff who post so I think you are not alone ;)

Oop sorry - just realised FFM posted a link to forums already - I thought it was something about AT but its not
