• Thanks for that, I was hoping for some titles or a specithic things people have sold with a speed of light, lol.
Yes the toys I have sold so far were all new, bought for my own kids ,put away and never opened. Just a few years in the cupboard and the price is so much nicer.
I thought of books as they waigh less, is there anything everyone wants at the moment?
I am sure everyone is asking the same question.
• I just tried to list a toy and it didn't say I couldn't list it (I only started listing last week and haven't sold anything yet - mind you only have 4 items on there).

I didn't submit it though as wasn't sure.

Good books to sell are York notes if you can get the current A level reading lists and match the York notes to the compulsory books. Vampire books, the new series ones like Twilight or True blood. If you have any of those and can afford to take a bit of a hit get them listed cheaply and turn them over quickly.

Selling toys is one category that Amazon control very tightly, you need to be a confirmed seller and for that they like to see a bit of trading history. Get some other stuff listed and sold quickly and then once you have some history talk to customer services about getting toy approval.

Thanks, I thought I would have got a message saying I couldn't list anything but I went through the process and got to the end where it say 'List item for Sale' or whatever the message is. I've got 4 things listed but haven't sold anything, I do have a credit card listed. Decided to sell the toy on Ebay instead and see how it goes tomorrow.

My links are a bit unreliable but here goes:

http://forums.prospero.com/n/mb/message.asp?web!!!!!am-uksellannoun&msg=501.1&ctx=0

Basically this is the Amazon seller guidelines for toys a Christmas:
Dear Seller,

As part of our strategy to maintain buyer confidence on Amazon.co.uk, we are implementing Christmas Selling Guidelines for the Toys & Games store.

Effective 16th September 2009, we will stop accepting new sellers in the Toys & Games store. Effective 16th November 2009, existing sellers who do not meet the following performance criteria will not be able to sell products in the Toys & Games store from 16th November 2009 through the first week in January 2010:

• Seller Account must be transitioned to Charge When Ship functionality (Learn more about Charge When Ship: Seller Help - Selling at Amazon.co.uk Marketplace - Confirming Dispatch),
• Seller’s first sale on Amazon.co.uk must be prior to 16/09/2009 (sale does not need to be Toy-specific),
• Seller must have processed and shipped at least 25 orders during the 60 consecutive days preceding 01/11/2009 (orders do not need to be Toy-specific),
• No greater than 1% short term defect rate as of 01/11/2009,
• No greater than 2.5% pre-fulfilment cancel rate for the trailing 30-days preceding 01/11/2009,
• No greater than 5% late shipment rate for the trailing 30-days preceding 01/11/2009.

You can monitor your Customer Metrics in your Seller Account and take corrective action if necessary to improve your performance. We will provide final notification if you are eligible to sell in the Toys & Games store by the middle of November.

Basically that means you have to register before 16th September if you want to sell toys at Christmas but you have to have quite a hefty selling record to be considered.

• Thanks Soolin. I'll probably not bother with toys, just had a Wheels on the Bus toy and looked to see if they were selling any.

I shall have to have a good read of all the Amazon rules etc.

• Thanks Soolin,
Yes I have sold 20 things on Amazon, you have to sell 25 before 1.11.09 to qualify for selling before Xmas. Hence trying to find something which will go really quick. I have some musical books to put on I hope they will be needed.

Just watch the bit about the 25 things needing to be sold in a 60 day period (that's to stop people resurrecting old accounts I suspect).

Do your books have a very high sales rnaking? You need that to be in the low 4 figures for a quick sale. I sold only one book overnight, it has been listed for about 5 weeks and has a sales ranking of 11,583. Try and aim for a better sales ranking than that if you need to get 25 sales in the next 60 days.

You maybe know this already but if you go to the Amazon homepage and look at each department's front page, down near the bottom there is a list of best sellers in that Dept ie books, DVDs, music etc. It will give you an idea of what the top sellers are, Amazon update the list hourly. If you are desparate to sell those 5 items by a certain date then you could look for a best selling but small/light book and buy a few copies at say Waterstones on their 2 for 3 offer and flog em on Amazon. You might make a bit of a loss on those if you have to price them low to sell but if thats the only way to get onto the Xmas sellers bandwagon then it might be worth it????

Strangely enough I had my Christmas toy selling email from Amazon yesterday after discussing it all on here. Then a few minutes after I sold a toy (the first one in months as I have very few listed)

My book sales though have completely died, no book sales for 3 days now.
