Selling Your Stuff on Amazon Part 12 - Advice for newbies in first two posts

Yes, I'm beginning to get disheartened with Amazon - only one sale in the two weeks I have been back from holiday.
Perhaps an opportunity to talk tactics - do people list things which will only make them a small profit but hope to turnover lots? Or do people list things with a high resale value, but potentially low in the rankings and just sit tight and hope it sells?
I had been listing things I would make a few pounds on each time, but now concerned that they may be sitting around my house forever and never actually sell (so be worthless!)Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Weirdly then I have had my best fortnight in a long time, earned just over £60 - obviously there will be a fair bit of postage to come off. however this isn't bad considering I only sell my own stuff so there is probably only about 150 items - it isn't a rolling total either I only add one or two books occasionally so most of it has been there a while. Particularly as I sell such low amounts a neutral took me down to 97% and it seemed to knock things for a while. It has restored my faith although it was probably only an anomale as it has gone quiet today! Better than my luck on Ebay at the moment - people aren't fooled for a minute by me called "old" knitting patterns Vintage - the tumble weed is blowing through my listings:rotfl::rotfl:Hope everyone has a good week0

Hi all,
I posted some questions about some problems I've had with Amazon (on page 33).
I've still not got anywhere, but I wonder if there might be a way around it. The idea is that I have a decent variety of products still available for sale and would need someone to arrange the listings on Amazon. They would basically list what I told them to and forward any dispatch information. Do you think this could work?0 -

I didn't submit it though as wasn't sure.

I found a children's game that my daughter left behind when she moved out. It was made by Orchard Toys and I bought it for about 50p from a charity shop.
I thought..nothing ventured, nothing gained...and sold it for about £5 on Amazon within a few days of listing it.
I had a look round Amazon at the used toys and there are lots of games made by well known toy companies being listed for prices that I wasn't expecting. I will be making another search about the flat to see how many other toys I have about the place.
I also sold a video this week. I would expect it to be left on eBay for weeks without selling it...probably on the first bid (99p)...sols it this week on Amazon for £11.99January 1st 2013 starting weight 123 kg

AS per the earlier replies it is almost impossible to get reinstated on Amazon once they have said they will no longer correspond with you about suspension.
My honest thoughts about your new suggestion is that it would be unworkable, it relies on too many things all working perfectly and with the maximum 2 day despatch a slight delay in getting a SDN email from your colleague would get their account in problem as well. Why would anyone risk their own suspension on Amazon for you?

thanks soolin, I will take a look at ebid.
There are obviously some issues that would need to be worked out with my Amazon plan. Before going any further, I would draw up a list of responsbilitties which would be split between myself and the other person, and basically profit would be split making it worth their while.
There would have to be an large amount of trust from both sides.0 -

Hi everyone
someone has contacted me regarding non reciept of a book from the 7th, as I sell low amounts one neutral over slow postage knocked me down to 97% so I am anxious to sort this matter out quickly. I was wondering however am i duty bound to wait a certain length of time before I can refund over non reciept? i was thinking of Amazon - I know with the post office it might be up to three weeks (can't remember as has been a while since I claimed) which I wouldn't wait for as would sooner just take the hit. Can anyone confirm its ok just to go ahead and issue refund? Sorry if this is basic info which I should know!!
I spoke too soon about my good fourtnight as it has deffinately died now!:D0 -

Hello, yes you can refund through Amazon at any point - make sure you use the drop down menu giving reasons. You don't want too many refunds tho as they can affect your Metrics. I believe that the recent industrial action by RM has resulted in back logs of mail in some areas so it could be held up by that. If your buyer seems reasonable you could ask them to check at the sorting office to see if its there or wait a bit longer. Sounds like you are keen to refund sooner rather than later tho? Good luck with the sales too

Well I've a few books on Amazon and have sold 2 in about 9 months.
I'm so cross with myself, having read all the instructions about selling for 1p and the postage costs etc.
I sold a paperback the other week and although I wrapped it in an envelope rather than a jiffy bag, it was a smidgen too thick to pass as a large letter so instead of 90p it was £1.85  What an idiot, Iread all the warnings and just assumed my book wasn't that thick without actually measuring it.
I also didn't realise there was such a steep hike in the costs.
So I think had a loss of 50p.....
Thankfully the other book I sold had a final profit (after fees and postage) of about £12.50 so in theory I'm in profit with my Amazon-ness!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0
