Lloyds TSB Credit Card PPI

Options
Hi,

Am looking for some advice as the whole PPI thing can get confusing.

A few years back I had just been paying it regardless when it appeared on my statement (stupid, I know), but what with all the PPI stuff in the media lately I thought I should try my luck.

I kept forgetting to sort it out and it was only the fact that I got a letter through the post today from Lloyds TSB about some changes to my Payment Protection Cover insurance policy from 1st April 2009.

I looked at this site and found a template letter, but I was unsure as how I could prove whether I set it up or not.

So I phoned Lloyds TSB this afternoon and asked them - after being on hold for a while I was told that I phoned up on 13th July 2001 about something and agreed to it during that phone call, obviously I can't remember a phone call from 7½ years ago, but I must have agreed.

Does anyone think I would still be able to reclaim?

Thanks for any help/advice in advance

    Hi there

I have an ongoing case with the financial ombudsman about lloyds right now just waiting the outcome of this, again LLoyds TSB credit card.

I cancelled my cover and yesterday I also received the same letter as you, about changes of this PPI.
I yet have to have another read although this should not really occur to me as I do not have an activated credit card account and have not done so since 2004.

If you've no paperwork as them to send you a copy of the agreement, you should enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment for this, and you should receive this within 12 days of request.

However if you require even more paperwork, you could request for a Subject Access Request (SAR) you will find the SAR template on the thread with details, they have 40 days to comply and send everything they have on you on your account(s) with them going back as far as 6 years.

However, I opened my credit card account in Jan 2001 and I was lucky that they sent me details as well going back as far as that year which included the statements of the credit cards.

There is a £10 cheque or postal order payment required for this but the more proof the better I say where this has helped my case so far and the FOS have agreed to uphold my case, even though LLoyds did not agree, this is why now I am awaiting a decision on this, but it looks hopeful so far.

If you require any further help with this please just yell where one of us will be able to help as much as we can, good luck.;)

  • Aw thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

I'm assuming I wasn't phoning up card services specifically about PPI at the time, it would have been some other query to do with my account, the person I spoke to in July 2001 must have offered me it and I must have agreed.

Sorry, I'm just wanting to clairfy that even though I have agreed to it over the phone I can still try to reclaim?

I'm sure when I had a loan from Lloyds TSB a few years ago and I had said that I didn't want the loan protection for it, she made me sign a form to show this and gave me a copy to keep, which I fully agree with.

It's just that I'd never signed anything to do with PPI on the credit card, only agreed over the phone.

Hi there and not a problem.

When I had taken mine out I assumed PPI was all part of the credit, that is one of the reasons of why I have complained on mine, you may have other reasons which may be worth your while checking out to see if any of them occur to you.

Have you checked this out here (further PPI info):
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

this info goes for both loan and credit card ppi, may be worth your while, good luck.;)

  • I've done a sample letter for the policy and terms and conditions, but will this apply as I had the credit card for a couple of years before I agreed to the PPI over the phone in July 2001?

If this is the correct letter, which address should I send it to?

Check this link here, do you mean this one:
    http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/attachment/ppicharges.rtf

For the link above you would use the 2nd address down as you are requesting for your agreement etc.

or you have a ppi reclaiming letter template on here:
    http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/attachment/ppistep1.rtf

And you would post to the last address for this one on reclaiming/complaint.

  • Di, I must thank you for all your help and advice today.

Here is the template letter I took from the site:

    Dear Sir or Madam,

    Account number:

I am writing to request a fully comprehensive list of all the insurance charges added to my account with Lloyds TSB. If you are unable to provide this data, I will accept copies of my statements. I understand that statements on their own are not covered by the Data Protection Act, yet I’m not requesting the statements per se, but the charges, which I’m entitled to.

I look forward to your response within 40 days, as is obliged under the Data Protection Act 1998. If not I shall seek remedy from the Information Commissioner.
    Yours faithfully,

Do you think I should bypass this though and try one of the other ones?

Not a problem hun and with pleasure, I will do my best to help you.;)

What you have done is great well done.......:T , however, as you know they have 40 days to comply anyway, you could go all the way with a Subject Access request (SAR), you will see this template on the thread with details, but there is a charge of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this, it may be worth it though, because if you note in the SAR your requesting for everything they have on you, this may also include telephone call recordings, dates/transcripts etc of then they were made and what they were about, also anything done over the internet.

Its up to you, either letter, but they will charge £10 for this anyway.
If you use the SAR on the thread just delete what does not occur to you.

You can still continue to complain and reclaim while your waiting for your information if you want to as well.

Well done to you, you have been working hard on this keep it up.
And please keep us posted and yell anytime if you require any further help, your very welcome.:A ;)

  • Am just thinking, if I was to do the one which could provide transcrispt of calls etc, would that not just tell me that I agreed.

    Hi there

Lloyds rarely sends recordings of calls etc, but written transcripts with dates, times etc and maybe like mine it was "PPI query".

I would not worry about that to be honest, even if you have agreed that should not make any difference as such as you may have other reasons to back your case.

If you feel better by sending in your letter then that is fine as its still requesting for what you personally need.

You could actually just ask them by ringing them to see if they can supply these for you free of charge as your not requesting a Full sar, see what they say.;)

  • Hi,

I'm going to send the letter which I posted a copy of into this topic as above and enclose a cheque for £1 - I assume that I make the cheque payable to Lloyds TSB?

When/if they provide me with list of all of the insurance charges or statements, do I then find a template to try and reclaim?

    Thanks again
