Big welcome to more newbies:j holly vegas, kay da girl, plzHMS & Hannah - my best advice is throw yourself in and post every day if you can: that way we get to know you and you get a sense of belonging and get maximum benefit. I know some of us longer term peeps on here have found the support we give each other really helps a sometimes long journey, and then the whole new journey of learning how to maintain the weight loss.

FFM - I live very close to the finish line so I'll be ready with the free massage and showers:rotfl: . As for Ditchling beacon:eek: . My claim to fame is that I did cycle up it once with out getting off...but come supplied with oxygen masks and crampons:D . Seriously though, I did the London to Brighton 20 yrs ago with friends and it was great fun. Though I remember at the start was the first time I actually took on board that I was about to ride 56 miles and what on earth was I doing there:rotfl: .
Oh, and I don't think you sound at all wacky - quite the opposite: sometimes the numbers game can get in the way of your balanced well being.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Aww thanks for the welcome guys! Much appreciated.

I lost 4.5 stone a year or so ago, although i've not put any back on, i'm not happy again, probably never will be, thats what us girls are like isnt it!! So am on a diet until i feel better again, don't really have a target as such, but 1.5 stone should do it i hope. Love food in general though so its a nightmare. Crisps crisps crisps!... are evil :T

Am off round parents for a roast tonight, lay off the gravy mum and only one roast potato for me. Pile up the vege!!!!!!!! :D
    xx

Kay 4 1/2 stone is an amazing weight loss! Do you need to lose another stone and a half or do you want to because you think you will then feel better about yourself? Either way some exercise/toning may help you start to feel more positive, you will feel and look good!

One roast potato, good for you! I actually dont like veg really, i eat it but force myself to, so accept that in order to eat the veg I need the potatoes. Enjoy.

Well i am nearly 5"10 and i weighed 12 stone last Monday when i started. I'm just on my BMI level so i suppose i don't strictly need too, but i'd feel alot better about myself if i slimmed down especially for the summer. My muffin top drives me nuts.
Have been doing sit ups and thigh exercises alongside the diet this week to try and slim those down as well.

Fingers crossed for my weigh in tommorow.

Oh forgot about the Yorkshire pudding tonight, bad but they taste so good!!!!!! ... to sin or not to sin....

    wow, thats brave!!

make sure you check out the hills......the beacon at ditching is a killer!! Not that I want to put you off!

It's not really that brave, I've done the London to Brighton twice before in my youth and walked up Ditchling Beacon both times - I'm not proud :rotfl:
Plus, like BB says, it is a wee bit busy on the day and even the best cyclists have to walk up if a 'walker' wanders into their path.

I cycled 18.5 miles today and don't feel too bad, the homemade mushroom soup (thank you DD) and homemade bread (thank you Panasonic), followed by a lovely bubble bath has certainly helped.

I can't help looking at new bikes now, not sure if it is my mountain bike slowing me down or my age. I'm kicking myself for selling my racing bike on Ebay last year - at that time I didn't think I would ever get back into cycling.

Got a few nice 'good mornings' from some 'real' cyclists this morning - that put a smile on my face :D

  • Kay, I have a jacket potato in lieu of roast potatoes when I do a roast, but I have a couple of Aunt Bessies yorkshire puds - only 106 calories for 2 :D

Tesco are currently doing them at £1 for 12 and inside is a 50p voucher - our Tesco lets you redeem vouchers against any shopping so it's like getting 12 yorkshire puds (which are so much better than my own) for 50p. :j

Whatever you do, enjoy your meal.

Hey everyone! Been a bad weekend for me, got my friend up and it's been a scoff-a-thon. I jumped on the scales this morning and it said I've gained 4lbs:eek:

That can't be right! Admittedly I ate things like Chilli nachos and a pub meal of scampi, plus copious amounts of vodka, BUT no way on earth I've went 14,000 calories ABOVE what I'm supposed to of had.

Someone reassure me please! It's just water retention from the booze? My stomach is sticking out loads today, so it's a baggy hoody so no-one can see my OTT muffin top. :o

I also have a dicky stomach, I don't normally eat fried foods, stupid scampi!

I've been on those antibiotics for a few days now, lump isn't as sore but it's still as big. Fingers crossed it's gone by the end of the week.

    Hello All,

Welcome to more newbies! I can only reiterate that posting here regularly will help you to get involved, and for us to get to know you. As you'll have seen we share the highs and the lows together. No matter how you're feeling, support will always be here.

Victory - that doesn't sound like you! You must be under the weather right now. I hope you enjoyed your meal.

Sorry I've not been about much these past few days, but I have been so busy with this shed malarky. At the end of each day I've been shattered too. Yesterday I began to feel a bit 'off', and last night I felt rather yuk, and today I just felt pants! I'm obviously going down with some kind of cold virus, and have a sore throat, feel very cold, and have a headache, so it's been paracetamol and resting today. We only got the last of the shed dismantled yesterday - it took us 5 days! It took less time than that to build the darn thing, although the guy who did that was a professional, and he had all the right tools for the job. My OH thinks he's definitely cracked a rib, because he's in agony when he sneezes or coughs, and lifting has been painful, but there's not much point going to the Dr. We've had to ask for some help to actually transport the building down to my OH's house, so 4 blokes should be helping us tomorrow evening to do that. Then we have to rebuild it! eek!

    Food yesterday was:
    B - 2 muffins
    L - bacon roll
D - 2 quorn fillets (94 cals each) pile of veggies
Snack - 2 oat biscuits Total cals: 1190

    Today's food:
    B - 2 slices toast
L - roast chicken, veg, 3 small roast potatoes (didn't eat it all)
    D - fruit & yogurt

I'm hoping a good night's sleep tonight will have me feeling better for the next week. Hope you've all had a good weekend!
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
