  • Vix, you should consider writing - your posts are so hilarious. Never heard of the need for an 'airing' before :rotfl:

Victory, what can I say? That is very YELLOW.

Annie and Vixstar, great losses :T

DMV, hope you feel better soon, 2 of my Monkeys had a 24 hour bug recently, but avoiding food until it passed made it go away.

    Enjoy your Easter everyone.

    I'm back:wave::easter_os
DMV Sorry youre still not feeling well. I always stay away from food and drink as much ginger tea as I can. Twinings make a very nice one with a bit of lemon in it.
Vix I agree you should start writing-although the things you say remind me so often of my mum. She used to walk around the house starkers ALL the time. Always said she needed airing especially under her boobs:rotfl:She used to drive us mad coz she was constantly rushing to open the door to unannounced visitors and needing reminded to put a gown on :wall:
Victory That is so pretty-and I love your elephants-but you're braver than I am...keeping them even though their trunks are down.

I had a lovely time at friends-although not impressed with DS. He just refused to go to bed coz he didnt want to miss out. Then by the time we did get him down he was overstimulated and was just very upset. He must've got me up at least three times between 1 and 8am. We pitched a tent :rotfl: the boys got the fire going whilst us girls were making salads and when we went out it started pouring. So they got out the tent and pitched it sand we had our braai lunch in there. DS loved it...and we caught a neighbour taking photos of us!!! I barely needed any of my vodka because we were just having so much fun. We kicked the ball around in the rain with DS (yes with my injured foot). Then when it got dark we struck the tent and went indoors. They have a Wii and it was SO much fun. Im definitely going to enter all the comps I can now to win one, or at least some cash to buy one. And I'll get a fit to go with it so I can do free step with you lot. We played ten pin bowling and DS played with...it was so cute. I got a short video so I'll put it on FB later. This morning we had bacon and eggs with some nutty wheat muffin/bread rolls we made. It was one of her MIL's recipes from SA and was very quick and easy (done in the microwave) I'll post that one on the recipe thread too-It's just "nutty wheat bread" and whether you do a loaf or buns or muffins is personal choice. It can also be done in the oven...I do need to translate it first as it is in Afrikaans. Her husband is in the Royal Engineering Corps and such a softie. He was really upset that my foot was not strapped so he did it yesterday and insisted on checking on it again today.

I hope you're all having a wonderful long weekend.

Next door neighbours kids age 2 and 4 yesterday pulled the heads off most of my red tulips,(long front stretch of plants at the front of the my house) the heads are on their side of the garden just left there, neither of the so called responsible adult parents either told me about it, apologized, offered to replace them (I mean like I wouldn't notice and to add insult to injury they have just left the heads on their side:rolleyes:)
Young couple, say hello, chat, friendly enough, OH says leave it don't say anything neighbour relations etc but I am spitting because 1) why not come and tell me at least I don't have to find them all be-headed,2) the silence is annoying like they never did it 3) if one of my kids had done something I would own up/make them face it/replant some more/offer to pay for some more as plants are not cheap and 4) why should I pay/plant/water/ etc for the their kids to pick them and me be left with stems?

    What shall I do?

Victory - thanks for the pics. That's truly yellow, and such a cheerful colour. I had a bedroom painted in a similar colour, and it used to have the early morning sun in there, and it was gorgeous. I hope you got the door trims sorted out. When do the in-laws arrive?

Vixstar & Annie - brilliant losses guys, well done!

dmv - similar to vixstar, I was told flat flat Coke was a good drink to have when you've had a sickness bug. It doesn't upset the stomach, and has the sugars in it to give you a bit of energy. Your body can quite easily cope without food for several days, it's more psychologically we don't cope, but you have to keep your fluid levels topped up. The principle of the starvation is that your body, when under attack from a virus, needs to focus it's attention on creating extra white blood cells to attack the bug. If you eat, the body has to also focus it's attention on digesting the food. It kind of makes sense to me, and so far it's always worked for my family. My BF wasn't convinced, and seemed to think he'd die if he didn't eat regularly, despite throwing up with a bug, but when his bug was still hanging around after several days, and our's had passed, he finally did the day without food, and was cured! If you can take a day out to rest up, then just avoid food, have regular sips of fluid, and get an early night. The 24hrs will past quickly, and you should feel so much better as a result. You can eat for England when you're better.:T

Polka - it sounds like you have some lovely friends. Strange neighbour though!

Vix - my mum always said you had to 'air your bits' too, and wearing your 'nicks' in bed was frowned upon. I've just read an article on Marilyn Munroe and she never wore underwear - no wonder she was so popular!:rotfl:

  • Victory, I really understand where you are coming from and would probably feel exactly the same.

But, are you sure the parents have even noticed yet? I can't say I am the most observant person around, and if they are young and busy with other stuff they may not have even noticed the debris - that would explain why they haven't even cleared up the evidence. Just a thought.

In the interests of remaining friends I would probably do nothing - leave the heads there and maybe eventually they will notice and say something. When they do finally realise they may be too embarassed to say anything to you though.

    Hope it ends happily.

sary Not for another 7 weeks but best to be prepared:D went to homebase but it was closed so tomorrow, this weekend we have built from wood a shed door and hung it, painted the dining room yellow, going to get the door trims, OH has fixed his bike and is fixing his mates now, I have gone round with a paintbrush in every room and touched up every last bit of paint drips, over runs you name it, replaced all the face flannels and towels, new bedding on from TK max now that was a bargain:D turns out as they have the camper van they are going to see the kids off to school, travel about all day and be back in time for schools out so I guess they will not notice too much the house state:rolleyes: I am doing over kill but there are the little silly jobs that you just accept like one of the freezer draws comes off in your hand so I super glued it, the patio door frame lip swivels underfoot if you stand on it, I super glued it, some grout in the bathroom is all wonky so I super glued it,you get my drift :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: just want to make the house into their hotel for the week and for them not to kill themselves over our shody DIY, which is now perfect:D

ffm thanks you do have a point about the parents noticing, let's hope it is that and they haven't because otherwise I cannot understand how a parent could possible stand by let their kids destroy the flowers, say nothing and go in, making out that it is not important or should not be said and resolved:rolleyes:

Victory - I think you should at least draw it to the attention of the parents, because even if they are trying to pretend they don't know, or hope you haven't noticed, by confronting them with the obvious evidence will demand they deal with the situation. How they then deal with it is up to them, but you can at least hope to expect a reassurance that your other plants will not be touched in future. It is really annoying I know.

Thanks sary can't trust myself at the mo to do anything because I am livid and the more the day goes on and no one comes round the more I am seething I am old school and however the kids are little and cute and cuddly and lovely and know no different and bless they are only kids the parents should then take responsibility for what their angelic kids did which is left my front with headless red tulips:rolleyes: I SURE KNOW my little one would not be allowed to just come in here and close the door and me not to say anything
