Lol Victory - you should see my tangoed kitchen. The other 3 members of the household still prefer to keep their sunglasses on in there:rotfl:I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
What a day! It's my DD's 3rd birthday so I took her and my 5yo sister Ellie to the beach & carnivals, which was good fun albeit cold, we then went to burger king - oops. Then I had to nip by asda to get catfood and diet coke, just before we went to pay Ellie needed the loo, so I took the pair of them to the toilets and walked back to the tills to meet OH, and I was like Eh? What's going on? As everyone was just standing around staring, and then I noticed a woman screaming HELP HELP, her baby wasn't moving and was limp, and there must of been hundreds of people just standing there doing NOTHING, so OH was shouting at someone to phone 999 for an ambulance and asking the till assistant if anyone had first aid training (He didn't know) so I went over (since no-one else was!) and stripped the baby down, checked to see if it was breathing (it was) and she seemed to have a steady pulse so I just figured a fit of some sort as she felt very hot, so I grabbed a carton of milk out of someones trolley and put it on the baby to cool her down, must of worked as she came round just before the ambulance came, so I think she'll be okay.
But honestly - Why do people just stand around and do nothing? It was a baby !!!!!!!!

Woohoo Buttons! know who I would want in a crisis.:D
Well done:T
People do seem to just panic when something happens and either do, as you said, nothing, or run round like headless chickens, see it a lot in the vets.

BB the cc's are calling meeeeeeeee!!!:rotfl:0 -
God Buttons, I bet/hope the mother was very gratefull to you, I know I would have been in that situation. Well done you for being more together than everyone else. About 6 months ago I was out and saw a very frail old lady fall over. I instantly started running towards her, but half a dozen people just looked and walked past gasping.
Happy birthday to your daughter and glad you had a good day!0 -
Well done Buttons, I want you around in a crisis.

wow, well done BM - be proud of yourself:T - to keep a cool head in a crisis is a skill. (& don't ever forget that if you need to apply for a job/do a cv.)
petcorner: as long as they are calling you I shall try and ignore them...I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Buttons - I hope the supermarket gave you your shopping free! Well done for keeping a cool head in that situation.
Missy - we found that if we chose wisely the exchange rate was mitigated by the lower cost of living - for example a 3 course meal with wine/water/bread in a local cafe (where we were the only non-locals) cost less than 10 euros and was very good. A litre of wine in the supermarket was under a euro. Breakfast of coffee and croissant was less than 2 euros. But if we'd wanted to buy souvenirs and so on ..... well fortunately we didn't. The metro was cheap too. But I guess it depends where you're going - Spain always seems to be cheaper than France or Italy. Entry prices for galleries/museums seemed very high - around 10 - 15 euros. Once we're in a gallery we tend to stay all day though, so it's still a bargain!0 -
The reason I went over is because I did a first aid training course as part of my college course about 5years ago hah, I'm sure things have changed by now.
No they didn't give me my shopping free, I kinda just melted back over to OH, I'm not one for a fuss, I just hope someone would do the same for me if I was ever in that situation (not like the time I got mugged and slashed by her and no-one helped!)0
