  • Smart price mince...sorry to those who like it but our family won't touch it!
Tesco's value mince for £1.21 is alot better (abit like good old fashioned market mince) plus they do one in double the size for £2.00 brilliant for making double up's to freeze!
  • Is there a tesco value thread like this??

Just wanted to say that 90% of shopping is always asda sp.

Someone mentioned the bananas were always green... I only ever buy sp bananas... a couple of weeks ago when i bought a bag of them... one of the bananas had a ffyfes (if thats how its spelt) sticker on.
So the bananas are the same as others in the store just not quite as ripe. Just open the bag and put bananas in a fruit bowl and a couple of days later they have rippened.

i just had my shopping delivered and 40 of the items were smart price... 13 were stores own range.

I got trays of westaways honey roast pork sausages. there are 18 per tray. They were on offer... £4.39 a tray or 3 trays for £6. Talk about a no brainer. I have had them before and they are absolutely gorgeous.

Incl the £3.50 delivery charge.. the whole bill came to £50.43

I saved £7.17 on the sausages

Is it just me or are Asda putting up the price on their smart price items. Just one example I get their smart price lemon squash and it was 15p for 1ltr today it was 27p for 750ml. so they have changed the packaging to make it look different and charging more for less. I am now going to both Morrisons and Icelands and getting bits there as Asda are getting worse.

Nicky i ordered a blackcurrant sp 1 litre and also an orange sp 1 litre cordial on my shopping... they were subsituted with 750ml ones ... i had a good look at the bottles and it says they are double concentrate so you only need to use half the normal amount

forgot to say... i use the sp cat litter. I have noticed a lot of the more expensive cat litters claim to contain a deouriser. The sp one doesnt have this but i have found a solution...

When you have cleaned out the litter trays, before adding fresh sp cat litter, sprinkle a small layer of cheap bicarbonate of soda in the tray before adding the cat litter. It absorbs a lot of nasty smells and costs a lot less than buying expensive branded cat litter.

Some of the Asda SP products we use

Peanut Butter - Is gorgeous, and tastes great on toast
Garden peas - A little harder than other brands, but still quite nice all the same
Tinned Tomatoes - Great for bolognaise
Ready salted crisps - Not too salty, and really tasty
Tortilla Chips - Really good with asda's own brand salsa dip
Bacon - Not too bad, not as salty as some
    Tinned carrots - very good
Australian White wine - suprisingly good, goes very well with soda water.

The s/p beans with saussage are great and the pork is the same meat content as the Heinz and about 40p cheaper. My kids love them.
  • just like everyone on here most of my shopping is smart price or asda own .

i always buy the large pack (12) of smart price toilet rolls . they are thin but for £1.17 you can't complain, after all is only for wiping your bum then you flush down the toilet, why flush expensive roll down .

Picked up our first ever Asda Smart price products today, tin of beans & sausages and chocolate digestive biscuits. We are yet to taste the beans however the biscuits are reasonable and with a cup of tea you can not tell the difference.
