  • Smart Price Branflakes are lovely! Much better than Kelloggs IMHO- crunchier, more texture, less refined and 70p a box. What's not to like?!

    jaffa cakes are ok too
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

    Peanut butter is delish
Marmalade is perfectly acceptable - not as good as Frank Coopers but at 27p who cares!
Lemon Curd is ok - put it in sandwich cakes/butterfly cakes.
SmartPrice Spreadable is a gorgeous 'buttery' spread for 84p.
    Pickled Onions
    Sandwich Pickle
Red Cabbage - OH has this.
    Shrink-wrapped beetroot - I can't eat the pickled stuff.
Not keen on the bread BUT it's ok for the dgk's for toast with jam on - or for eggy-bread with tomato ketchup/jam.
    Yoghurts
    Bacon pieces
    tuna

  • I regularly do this for my lunchbox at work during the week, using all ASDA SmartPrice products (even the pepper). It's very filling.

    PASTA & COTTAGE CHEESE FLAN

    Makes about 0.75L

    INGREDIENTS

1 packet of pasta in sauce
    300ml of water
    150ml of milk
    15g of butter or margarine
    1 egg
    200g tub of cottage cheese
    Ground pepper to taste

    METHOD

Make up the pasta in sauce, according to the instructions on the packet.

Break the eggs into a bowl and pick out any bits of shell. Mix up the eggs. Add the cottage cheese. Mix up again. Season with the pepper.

Put the pasta and sauce into a flat ovenproof dish. Level off the surface. Leave to cool until the sauce has thickened. Put the egg and cottage cheese mixture on top. Spread to cover the pasta.

Cook in a preheated oven at 180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4 for 20 to 30 minutes until golden on top.

    ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES

If you substitute the milk with an equal quantity of water and omit the butter, this is evidently "Slimming World sin free". Put a sliced tomato on top.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • We have tried

    kidney beans - fine
tomatoes - fine, though the juice is a bit thin
    tinned sweetcorn - fine
fresh fruit & veg - fine
    lasagne sheets - fine

haven't tried anything else - beans I usually go with what's on offer, at the moment it's HP 4 for a £1

Kitchen rolls, toilet rolls and soap powder I normally buy in bulk at Costco a couple of times a year - I don't even know how much these are in the shops now. I'm not actually sure if this saves any money in the long run - but it keeps the weekly bill down.
  • I've tried a most of theings that have been mentioned and like them all!

We all use sp stuffing - fine
    fruit and fibre - fine
    fresh fruit - fine

Im not keen on sp squash though!
