StressedOutMomOf1 Thanks so much for the recipe, it sounds delish. I'm always looking for something new to try. I seem to have gotten in a rut lately making the same things again and again. I believe my menu plan for tomorrow's tea has changed thanks to you.
Csarina I do hope the cooker gets connected soon! Well done on getting the tiles from a Freecycler also! I love roaster bags too. I also find things cook more quickly in them.
In Search Of Me I've always used the BRAT diet when my kidlets had the tummy thing going on. Bananas, Rice, Apple (Applesauce) and Toast (or tea.) It sounds a bit weird but it surely does work. If you really want to go bland, perhaps porridge or rice or broth and toast? Hoping you feel well very soon.
Our day out consisted of going to the shops and getting some essentials and back home again. I've not felt too much like going out lately for some reason. DH has managed to watch some of the telly programmes that are on when he's working. Bargain Hunt, Flog It, Cash In the Attic etc. I've been good and haven't snarled at the telly too many times today.
I think that in the Amish culture/community, facts like birth and death are accepted more as a part of the cycle of life. That extends to children also. Depending on the sect, many give birth at home and pass on at home with family members caring for them. Children also learn at a very early age what their roles in the family and community are. Girls are brought up to know how to cook, clean, sew, keep the chickens, garden etc. Depending on what their father does, boys will learn how to garden on a larger scale, handle work animals, they will learn at least basic joinery. In other sects, there are not as strict rules that are lived by. Shopping for some items is done at a grocery store, some own cars (always dark blue or black,) have electric and indoor plumbing in their homes. I've lived near both of these Amish/Menonite communities and one thing I truly admire is the sense of family and community. Things are done for the good of all, whether it be in the immediate family or the extended community. Oops, I've really gone on now. Sorry about that.:o
Off to pull the pasta bake out of the oven and we'll be eating shortly. Have a good evening everyone.
Many gentle hugs,
Peyton xxTake the first step.

noah'spennilessmummy - so sorry to hear about the IVF, lets hope that it works next time (((hugs))) to them both x
Halight - We use Tesco mobile and get the free airtime - its great value!:T :money:Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Evening all,
I really should be getting on with tea -steak and chips:j I've got a 550g piece of feather steak to use up ( it came in a meat box). I've been puzzling over what to do with it for a while. I wanted to serve it as steak rather than stir-fry as we don't often have steak. But it is too big for me and OH but not really big enough for 5 of us. However, DS1 has unexpectedly been invited for a sleepover so we'll have it between 4 of us (still not much each-but probably adequate). I'll try not to feel too bad about DS1 missing out:D I shall do some hm oven chips with it and veg.
I picked up a side of pork from my butcher this morning. Mmmm 6 joints, loads of chops and various other bits and bobs. My freezer is nice and full what with the 5 remaining cockerels I snaffled off him just after Christmas.
Anyway, I'd better go and peel some spuds.
Btw Peyton -interesting what you say about the Amish. I've been fascinated by them since seeing Witness. My chocolate fudge pudding recipe comes from an Amish/Mennonite cookbook0 -

- [/strike]
Had to pop round to Tesco Express to get some a few bits and bobs, got YD strapped in buggy as its too far for her to walk but close enough for me to walk. ED hanging onto buggy. Got there went to the counter and I'd forgotten my purse:mad: again! Did the same thing the other day (what age does early onset dementia kick in?! thirties?!:D ) I needed the stuff so had to come home and of course it started raining and then go back, took about an hour all in. So I bought myself some chocolate to make up for my stupidity!!!!! lol
Lunch I had HM roll and a bit of salad and balsamic dressing nom nom.
Dinner - girls are having fishcakes yuk and baked beans. I think I'll have some BNS soup as I'm not very hungry after eating my emergency Kitkat! In-laws are arriving later on so they and OH are having nut loaf (MIL is veggie) I don't normally cook 3 different meal but today is a funny day.
(((((((((((((Hugs )))))))))))))))))) to everyone who needs it and a big smile:D to those who don't0
