Hi everyone, hope you are all okay. Hugs to all who need them and want them.

Have spent all morning on the phone to the Job Centre and the DWP trying to sort out my benefits as it is all screwed up as i am going on to Employment Suport Allowance, this week i got no money for me or for DD and only gotmoney for DS to live on, it's a right meither!

The WM is on and the TD and we ate my home made choclate brownies for breakfast, how healthy is that :p

DD had a sleepover at my parents last night and me and DS are going to collect her shortly. We might go out somewhere or a walk after if it stays dry.

Good morning Essex Girl & all who follow.

Prayers & positive thoughts needed here today please. My Dad had a stroke yesterday & has lost his speech for now. It's so hard seeing this wonderful, intelligent man not knowing how to communicate with us or knowing his birthdate. He fortunately doesn't have too much weakness in his limbs & he's having another CAT scan this morning to see if any brain damage has happened. The consultant told us yesterday that we have to be prepared for the long haul to recovery & we are. I just wanted to wrap him up last night & bring him home I felt so awful leaving him in the hospital trying to make the staff understand what he wanted.

Sunnygirl, i'm so sorry to read about your Dad, be assured of my prayers for his recovery. My aunt had a very bad stroke and they said she would not walk again, but she has, things often seem very bad at the start, but with a lot of love and support and help from the hospital staff, great improvements can be made. Hugs to you!

katholicos - Seems most MRI scan operators are not trained to understand them, but just to check they are clear, and would call on help if anything very obvious was visible. May take a week or two for consultant to "read" them. They don't make them very spacious do they.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You are so right, there isn't much space at all. LOL!

I just phoned the neuro's secretary and left a message (she is away till next week and so is the neuro apparantly) to say i had my scan and would await a call, or not, as the case may be. Hopefully not :-)

Did anyone watch the programme on BBC 2 last night about the 2 Amish families? It was very good I did feel so sad for the family whose little girl has Leukemia????spelling.

csarina, i watched it and was totally fascinated by it. When i was 17 i went to live in a religious community (it was, i found out later, one of Britains largest cults). I felt so sorry for the little girl but i was even more taken aback that the parents had such a love of God that they spoke of being fine with God 'taking her home in Glory' if he wanted to. I am a devout Catholic and teacher of the Catholic Faith but my children are my life and i have not reached the stage in my faith where i would ever be okay with losing them. Perhaps their faith is stronge than my own? I don;t know, I admired them for it, but at the same time, was concened that they spoke this way in front of the little girl.

Fascinating insight into the Amish way though.

Katholicos - well done for managing so well! It must have seemed like a long time.

Oh it did seem like such a long time, wmf, but it was soon over, thanks so much for your encouragement :-)

    Afternoon all.

I’ve been MIA for a few days, so a bit behind n what’s been happening.

SunnyGirl sorry to hear about your Dad’s stroke. I hope that he makes a full recovery.

    Happy Birthday RavyLesley.

Mr LW persuaded me to get a pasta maker last weekend – well, I used it yesterday, and the handle promptly fell to pieces!:mad::mad: So that’ll be going back to John Lewis. Pasta tasted OK though, thankfully.

I am currently scratching my head wondering what to do for dins tonight. I’m all out of ideas, and too bone-weary to cope with anything elaborate.

The new hot water cylinder has been installed, and the radiators de-sludged. I could have done without the hassle (and the bill:eek:) but it was necessary.

I have completed the cross-stitch light switch surrounds for the lounge and the bedroom. I need to do one for the [strike]junk[/strike] spare room, but I can't find the piece of Aida I had put by for it. :confused:I've looked everywhere I can think of - never mind, it'll turn up eventually, I'll just get on with something else and pretend I don't really need it.:o

I hope everyone is having a good *stops to check on calendar* Thursday.;)

    Hello everyone

    Happy birthday RavyLesley.

Katholicos - well done on getting through the scan - you sound so relieved that it's over with.

SunnyGirl - I too send my best wishes for your father. What a shock for you all, and especially for him. I sincerely hope his recovery is quick and uneventful.

I watched the Amish programme too - I'm really rather incredulous about how they live by so many rules, some of which seem so pointless. I mean, rules about braces, and rules about beards... all a bit strange and I don't see how they can prejudice your chances of getting into heaven. I'd better get off this subject, I'm not the religious type at all. I know that there are many good people in this world regardless of their following a religion or not.

silvercharming, that's a laugh about the 20% - perhaps people join that group because they don't run up debts living the luxury life. We are headed in that direction, just like D&DD. Well done D&DD, the peace of mind is priceless.

Plans for this afternoon - not much, a bit of job hunting I suppose. I also have to go and pay the vet's bill for Saturday. The silly boy forgot to tell the nurse how much to charge me when I collected Dylan - though he has in the past let me have some free consultations (I am sooooo lucky!) but I can't go taking the michael.

    Cheerio everyone

    Snowy
  • I have to tidy up and make spagbol for my tea tonight, I had my medical this morning for the benefits agency which was a severe disaster and I felt pressured and she was not listening to me saying that if I could work or feel up to working then I would.

I bought some stardrops the other day so I will be using those as well when I tidy up the kitchen.

    Peyton,

The cooker arrived at 7.10am this morning, I am waiting for the electrician to come and connect it for me. I put a request on Freecycle for 12 white tiles for the splash back and they arrived this morning, just need to find a strip of wood that I can pin under the wood the start the tiles on to keep them straight with the ones that are already on.

I am not sure what the first thing would be but it could be OH's porridge in the morning!!! followed by the sunday supper, roast chicken, might try the small oven......I bought some roaster bags to try and keep the oven clean, its one of my most hated jobs, cleaning the oven..........

Been up since 5am & have made a pan of whoopsied butternut squash & sweet potato soup so that there's something hot for us all when we need it later. (((((((((((big hugs)))))))))))) to everyone.

    Louise xx

Dear Louise - so sorry to hear about your Dad. BUT - God is good! My Mum had a brain haemorrhage 7 yrs ago, we didn't think she would last the day, and she was like a vegetable for quite a long while. But, with encouragement and stimulation you would now not know she had suffered at all. Since then, Dad has died and she manages (at 84) to live alone just with help for weekly housework, shopping, etc. Take heart, and I'll pray for you. :kisses3:

Silver - it's hard when in laws are so hurtful but your DH will be able to sleep at night, knowing he's done his best. Try not to take it too hard when she's so unfair - easier said than done, I know.

Rosy - take heart. At least if they don't arrive, your home will be lovely and clean :j !

    Isochick - well done, ducky!!

    Many happy returns, RavyLesley :T

Katholicos and Katy - hang on in there ;)

    Love to all virtual friends,

    Chris

Would love to make an Amish quilt and like the simplicity of the lives they lead - no mse though!!
