I'm having an absolute nail-biter here...

Sent off contract and did CHAPS transfer to my solicitor on Thursday- received and had planned for exchange on Friday. No news.

Called today and he says there has been a delay at their end but thought likely to move this afternoon.

Got a call later on from the EA to let me know that there was an issue with their mortgage offer (wrong figures or something), but that he was getting it sorted ASAP- and hoping for exchange now tomorrow...

Now this would all be fine, but we've got a van hired for Thursday night in order to move on Friday morning... Will it happen- I hope so!

I'm thinking, as a ftb, that if and when I see a house that I want to put a offer on whether it would be a good idea to ask the vendor who their solictior is, if I went with the same solicitor it should narrow the time scale down.

    Good idea?

Generally most solicitor firms will not act for both a vendor and purchaser because of a conflict of interest. If they use just a conveyancer then the rules are different and they may act for both parties.

I know someone who is using the same firm as the vendors and tbh the left arm doesn't know it's talking to it's right. TBH it is no quicker if you use the same firm.

Well fingers crossed for exchange today!

I am really annoyed with our solicitor, from hearing about the coal report problems on the 15th we have heard nothing, not even her letting us know if Nationwide are happy to carry on.

Basically we are completely in the dark at the moment.......extremely stressful, I have given up on trying to contact her, I think I will give her until the end of the day to let us know if exchange has happened and if she doesnt contact us I will hound her all night until she gets back to me!

    Wish us luck :)

Good luck with the survey, let us know how it goes :) x

Im feeling the same as you, it seems like a constant struggle to get information, how long since you had your offer accepted?

We had our offer accepted on the 18th June!

Im hoping it wont take long for Nationwide to respond, but i am going to guess it will be another week before we exchange, at least everything is signed and we have sent 10% of the deposit so as soon as Nationwide say ok then exchange can happen there and then in theory!

    What is happening with yours?

Oh glad im not being moany our was accepted 28th May, it would appear that my solicitor did nothing with the draft contract for 2 weeks, now he is wrangling with the other solicitor regarding the management company, as the new house is on a private estate with communal parks and playing fields etc.

  • Can I join the thread? I am a ftb but my partner is not, however I am doing all the chasing as he is so laid back about it all!

Offer accepted - 2nd week of June (1st and 2nd offer rejected, seller advised what they would accept - deal done!)
Survey back and OK'd, mortgage info confirmed etc last week of June
1st week of July - fixtures and fittings etc over to us, searches complete, final questions waiting to be answered
3rd week of July - no closer to exchange!

I am sure everything will go through ok but cant wait to have exchanged! I feel bad everytime I email to solicitor but I dont hear anything week to week otherwise!
