Soo, I got one. To recap:
Go through small business (might make a difference), head off any upgrade suggestions firmly by saying you went through that earlier. (You could say you already have one so you know what you're buying.) Repeatedly ask "Can you sell me this computer?" When they say yes say "I want to buy it NOW". I had to repeat this several times.
Make sure you get an order number, wait an hour then phone Customer Service to confirm it's on the system.
I might try for another this afternoon, just to see if it was a fluke.0 -
Here Here about someone asking Martin to publicise our plight and their shoddy service, Mrs is just in the process of filling in the Watchdog complaints form, I urge everyone else to do so, we also have never felt the need to ever do anything like this before, but we are so disgusted with those ignorant so an so`s
who just put the phone down.

By a fluke I did go through to the small business team, but they immediately transferred me to personal sales. It was there I got the hard sell and was told I needed a code which they would send if I held the line, then hung up on me.

ok, have you tried again? Get them to acknowledge the £299 deal immediately. If they sound difficult, hang up and redial until you get someone reasonable.
I'm not condoning Dell's behaviour but it's worth pushing for this deal.0 -
I've just tried to order the laptop.
After spending about 15 minutes waiting the "assistant" ran through the specification & tried to sell me a few options. Once it was clear I had no intention of purchasing any of the extras she just hung up!!!!!
The service is beyond belief!!! - Laughable!!

dya think??? 0870 call charges?? okay assume you pay just the national rate....
anyways, I have a sneaky suspicion that even if you do manage to order this, dell will simply cancel the order sometime next week or in 3 wks and say there is no stock would you like this 499 model etc etc. they have done it before.....
and I aint condoning it.... this is pathetic practice by them. I have emailed 'a complaint' which gets the same out of office reply as previous. do dell really expect people to beleive ONE person deals with all complaints for the UK and that they are out of the office now???? mmmmm0 -
I Phoned around all Tescos within an hours drive and found 2, ACER 3613,
and the price was £383 at the same store in Essex.
Not sure if it is a bargain or not.
I want to use it for the internet and for e-mail and that is about it..
Anyway too late now Coz i have bought it...
Fingers up to DELL......Timewasting and cut me off the phone at least 4 times today...
I will never buy anything from them again...0 -

This level of service is the price we pay for people like Dell outsourcing the call centre. They make more money, they rip off the Indians to work for peanuts and we get poor service. Welcome to the 21st century.
The only time i did laugh was when an Indian Tiscali call centre agent tried to explain to me to use a 'tilda' in the free webspace name. He nearly choked on his Biryani trying to explain what he meant. When i finally sussed it, i could hear him opening the Cobra!Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -
I got through to dell business and spoke to soeone from Europe, I asked why was everyone getting so much hassle ....
He told me very quietly that a lot of the sales team dont like placing the orders as they make no money from it and try to get
people to upgrade !!!My Shop Is Your Shop0
