  • Don't tell them the evalue code, stick to the price.

The UK switchboard closes at 5.30pm, don't bother trying after that, it's not worth paying 0870 rates.
  • Well call it a fluke, but I made one phonecall on the non geographical No 01344 860456 to a very pleasant Salesperson in Ireland and bagged one without any hassle apart from having to decline all the offers of upgrades.

So all I can say is keep trying and good luck.

Just spoken to a lovely lady called Marina (via Business number) who put the order through no problem.

My order confirmation states DVD +/- RW drive.

You'll have to pay the postage to send it back to Ireland - Dell will charge you ~£60 to pick it up from you.

I know its too late for the phone calls but i have managed to order one (I think!!!) via the busness sales desk.

They gave me a hard sell on the extras but i was just saying no to them all.

The sales guy took the order & payment detail & then said he as sent me a email with the full itemised lists of the computer.
The total cost was £299.03 with a delivery date of 27th February - im hoping it 2006!!!

He told me to reply back to his email telling me to carry on with the order as the quotation

    Fingers crossed x

well 3rd attempt I got past the hard sell, put on hold while he 'specced it out' for 10mins then disconnected... :( one more try then over to business number. 0870 dont matter as I am at work lol.

You can say you are newly self employed......that counts as being a business transaction and that way you don't need to answer any 'company' type questions - just state your business name is your own name.

Be careful. The minute you say you are business, you forego your rights as a consumer purchaser. That includes distance selling regulations 7 day return for any reason, as well as any consumer-friendly stuff in the sale of goods act.

Basically, it's a lot harder to "reject" something for any reason if you're not a consumer. Something to remember. HTH.
