Saw photos of the 14.1 on ebay, wondering if its worth the extra or not before I take the plunge
Thanks,
Kilty.
the 15.4 has a border/bezel about 1cm wide at each side, about 2cm at top and bottom, instead of the 2.5cm at each side, 3cm top and bottom on the 14.1, otherwise it's identical.
one way to look at it is that the 14.1 has the bulky case of a 15.4 without the bigger screen - the usual reason to buy a smaller screen is to get a more compact and portable unit.0 -

Gotta think about this one carefully, not sure if its worth the extra £35 or not........
Also just noticed the free delivery ends March 1st :eek:0 -

To me the extra 1.3 inches was not worth it, as I am only going to be using the laptop as a second machine. The extended battery is worth it, as to upgrade later would cost £60.
The £35 I saved on having a smaller screen was put towards extra memory which will make the machine perform far better.
Nothing worse than a slow machine due to lack of memory. My PC at work is a typical example. It is a P4 2.4GHz with 1GB RAM, but I need to have about 30 programs running at the same time. The company is upgrading us all to 2GB of RAM.0 -

If you are on a BT line and have any ADSL provider, get one of these for wireless networking http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/257700
If you want 1GB of RAM then this will be fine http://www.casetech.co.uk/ADATA-1GB-SODIMM-DDR2-533-CL40-16-CHIP-p-18405.html
Or for 256MB/512MB/1GB from Crucial will do the job http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=Dell%2BInspiron&mfr=Dell&tabid=AM&model=Inspiron+1300&submit=Go
Found a review here for Inspiron 1300 with a higher spec, but much the same http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=27380 -
Does anyone know the opening hours of the Dell sales line?
Looking to buy a 1300 but the option for upgrading the battery is not appearing so I'll need to order over the phone tomorrow some time.0 -
Thanks for the info.
Do I need the USB thingy, when I turned on my Dell today it said there are currently 2 wireless networks available, when I clicked on them it asked for a key?
Thanks
Would this be any use?

The belkin is for CABLE ONLY, not for a BT line
If the Dell asks for a key, that means those are secure encrypted wireless networks which means you will not be able to connect unless of course it is your network and you know the key.0
