I had exactly the same call. He still tried to sell me all the upgrades but at the end when I said "Are you going to sell this computer to me or not?", he said "yes". The most bizarre thing was at the end of the call he said "Are you happy now" to which I replied, somewhat sarcastically "Yes, ecstatic", at which point he put the phone down. Sense of humour bypass obviously. Don't know what has happened, but defo a mood change for the better! Checked my cc and £299 approx been reserved/taken. BTW, the slight variations in the amount debited seems to be because the its being taken in US dollars??

well Im happy, my order is all confirmed and got all the documents etc. Anybody else who ordered from the contact myself and marlowtech were sharing should be getting the same tonight (he is working hard for us!! the lovely fella).

the weirdest dell weekend ever I gotta say, but I hope everybody got there in the end!

Well I have just ordered mine. 50 minutes on the phone, 30 mins waiting + 20 mins hard sell. Hope the order goes through OK.
I'm glad I knew in advance what to expect (many thanks to all previous posters) otherwise I would have really lost my rag. As it was, it was almost good fun and I had to stop myself laughing as he explained what a poor, oldfashioned laptop it was and how I should really spend £500 blah, blah, blah.
I hope Dell-boy computers are brought to rights on this though, as it's a shoddy way to run a company.
