  • Just a word of caution, but of the 7 attempts I've made to purchase one of these during the last 4 days, 5 concluded in me being cut off but the other 2 ended such that I believed I'd actually purchased the computer. On both occasions, after fiurther investigation, it transpired that I had been given false names, contact extensions and booking references. What more can you do?

Mmmmmm, that doesn`t sound good will wait for the email comfirmation, if not i will be looking at the OFT website to register a complaint against Dell. Whats up with them anyway surely they still make money by selling them at £299. Sounds like quite a few of us have experienced poor customer service from dell and thats just trying to order an item, doesn`t give me much confidence in them already.

I absolutely agree with Premier, please do not give your credit card or any details out over the email. Our contact at Dell will call you - or you can call him on the number provided.... a quote is then emailed to you, which you confirm over email to an order. All the details are taken by him over the phone though.

I bought one of the £299 laptops over the phone on Friday evening using my cedit card and it was billed for the £299 on Friday, the actual available balance went down by £299. Today I have checked my account and the credit card has been billed for a further £112 - I'm suspecting this is for a memory upgrade I don't want.

I have contacted my CC company and I have to wait for the full transaction to be processed before I can start complaints procedures.

The guy did advise that this could be a mistake and may not actually go through, however be warned, this looks very shoddy!

oh dear that doesnt sound good. is the 112 from dell definitely? if it is that certainly does stink :( Do you have your email quote? and is the 112 on there? if its not then simply dispute the charge with your credit card company. Dell will probably deliver the laptop with the upgrades if the salesperson has added them, but you wont have to pay for them.

    Dont panic ;)

Just checked with my cc company.....£298.45 was taken by Dell and no more thankfully. Strange amount but 55p less than I was expecting anyway, lol.

Maybe it was just a one-off mistake with you mbm. Hope you get it sorted without too much hassle.

Thanks! As you say, I probably won't have paid for anything I don't receive but I will still be annoyed if I receive things I didn't order. I doubt I can lose out, as you say I can simply dispute it or like the CC guy said it may just be a mistake and the payment will be taken off. Either way though, I cannot beleive this is DELL!

I cannot beleive this whole Dell weekend myself, as I know many others feel.....

Is the whole world going to heck in a hand basin now??? Used to be atleast Dell sales you could rely on (maybe not customer service lol....)

You might even get these upgrades for free was my point tho ;) Because you didnt authorise them.... and if you have the email quote and invoice to prove it.... dell may not want to bother collecting and delivering a new laptop :D

I 've obviously got some of your missing 55p as my credit card has a hold of £300.18p :T ..I'd love to know what the extra bit was for!

I never received an email confirmation either, so I have no record of my sale although I have managed to confirm it is in the system.

nice idea scoobs might try that. even tho you gotta py for return they still gave discounts?? did they actually refund the money to you yet?

If dell said ok return the laptop I would of backed out and not return it as I really wanted it, it was just a disguise as I knew they would offer me a discount if I gave them a good reason - within 7 days.

I have had one discount into my visa to date the other is on the way confirmed by email.

    Total refunds £104 + cashback

Very professional indian call center staff.
