I phoned to ask if they give student discounts, he said how much are you looking to spend I sai £300, he said I might be able to get the demention 1100 under that price for you, gee thanks, I can do that myself on line :rolleyes:Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

IMHO the battery, screen and HD upgrade are well worth it since laptops are very hard to upgrade afterwards. I think the 1300 is actually a good machine having seen one "in the flesh" as well, though I'd be reluctant to buy with 90 day and rather have 1 year collect/return purely because of cost of return to Ireland.
Delivery is really quick - like two days! The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

But just checked my Quidco account and the order I cancelled last week is being tracked against the amount before VAT but not a huge difference overall.0 -
YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow managed to get dell to sell me 2 laptops, think i need a lay down. rang the 01344 860456 number, asked for complaints, was a bit miffed at phone put down on me b4 still, anyhow got throug to someone told him not pleased am trying to order from them and getting phone put down etc, said would put me through to sales thought here we go...... anyhow got put through to a chap called Donal, who was a lot more helpful than previous experiences, said theres a delay on onte 14.1 screen, but for another £37 has done me the bigger version, emailed me the spec there n thenwhile put me on hold, I accidently pressed the disconect button under speakerphone ( the argos cheapy dects for those that remeber). thought aghhhhh but all credit to him rang me straight back! Plus he didnt go over board trying to up sell everything, reckon they should put him in charge of training in customer handling...... ( provising it all turns up of course! )Nope.... Still cant think of owt interesting to put here.0 -
I've just had the strangest call from Dell
The man on the phone said he understood I was wanting to place an order and he was phoning to assist me, I told him that I had already placed an order. he assured me that no orders were taken over the weekend so they were chasing up people to see if any of the current offers would be suitable but again I assured him I had managed to place an order. He gave me my name, telephone number and part of my address and then asked me what I thought I had ordered, I told him the £299 laptop and he said 'aha, that's why i was told to call as they weren't available'.
I told him to check my details again as I had ordered one which he reluctantly did and confirmed I am due a delivery in 2 to 3 days, he then sounded grumpy and rang off.
THis gets stranger and stranger..I wonder if this has anything to do with the complaints I fired off over the weekend?

Some of the staff might not realise this yet hence still hanging up every so often.
And a cynic might even conclude that the helpful individual Marlowtech and kingkano have managed to pin down might actually be doing rather well out of it
But hey - if it gets you your £299 laptop, who cares?!The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

I just spoke to our Secret Squirrel at Dell and he confirmed he's had a great day thanks to all of you! He is earning commission but I didn't go into it in much detail.0

The plot thickens, I've had another call from Dell, this time a lady called Sheila who said she was in customer sales or something.
She was very pleasant told me that they had experienced problems at the weekend and any orders may not have gone through, I gave her my order number, she confirmed it was in order and all was very pleasant.
Please can someone else say they've had a phone call as well...I'm feeling very singled out here
