I have an order number, but it looks wrong somehow and I'm rather suspicious as earlier on this thread someone was given a false order number and their order was never actually processed. My code is 8 digits long, no letters just numbers, does that configuration tally with other peoples order numbers?

An order number shoudld be a nine digit number. What you have is a quote number which probably doesn't relate to anything you have ordered. Unfortunately you have not ordered a laptop nor will you receive one.

Had the same problems on Thursday and Friday. Keep trying though. Try calling back and confirming it, it wont exist.

Slightly off topic, but i ordered one of these laptops 2 weeks ago from Dell inc 40gb hard drive & 256 memory, 14.1inch screen cost £339, when i recieved the laptop Dell had upgraded it to 60gb and 512 and memory 15.4 inch screen free of charge ? no idea why but i wasn't gonna question it lol.

Big thumbs up for Dell from me :)

good luck to everyone i hope all ya orders are processed :)

That's what I thought. I'll update my Watchdog email and let them know that Dell are definately resorting to very underhand tactics now.

I'll actually be in the market for a desktop PC in the summer, guess who I 'won't ' be buying from...

They are advertising them nationally for £299, and the website address is listed.

My advice for anyone who wants one is to go to the website and order one, and Dell will have to honour the price of £299 whatever else they say. You may have to pay £339, but I cannot see Dell not honouring the £299 price.

When I ordered I got an 8 digit number starting with 21. When I called back after an hour and quoted the number the order had progressed and the operative confirmed the 9 digit number with an additional customer number. The system shows up as in production on the 'Track my order' page.

As is usually the case, this debacle is more of a cockup than a conspiracy.
  • Just to say thanks to marlowtech as used his contact and got the laptop for £293.17 del, same spec and no hassle. thanks friend

I received a quote email, followed by an order acknowledgement (with the 8 digit number starting with 21).

Neither email has a customer number.

I'm awaiting an order confirmation ...

  • Sorry about this, but my poor chap's been inundated by so many orders. He's asked to stop for now, but will see how the land lies at Dell tomorrow.

If we can do any more I'll post an update....
