Speaking of men working in maternity units, has anyone met a male midwife yet?

I've seen a scan blokey for all three scans for this pregnancy - I like him; he's my "good news" scanner! ;) - and I've seen another one who is as wide as he is tall, looks like an American football player.. we came up with the theory he was the one they make stand by your feet and catches the baby as it shoots out! ;) The registrar I've seen was male and I've seen one male and one female SHO.

We have one male midwife here. One consultant is a woman, the rest are blokes. The Registrars are all blokes, but the level above that is all blokes and one woman. According to the lady I spoke to, the male midwife is 'very in touch with his feminine side'!

Oh feeli sorry hon, completely understandable then, I think you are very brave not to have walked out and asked for a lady, well done:)

Tine, I know how you feel about going over...My recommendation is count to 42 weeks and use that as your due date!! I wish that is what I had done, because I am convinced he is not coming out by tomorrow:( In fact it is making me quite depressed thinking about it:(

Thanks Elle - we have one of those so if it's OK we could do that. I think I will just get 2 photos (maybe 3 as OH wants to make a special effort to tell his) - I'll just send mine an email of it even if I take the photo on my mobile!

MrsT - I have decided that from week 38 I will be doing all things possible to start labour off - the usual sex, curries and pineapple. I can't believe so many people on here have gone over - it seems much more common to go over than be early or on time (except for Weezl!!!)
I would like a September baby so will be doing everythign in my power to get one! (It won't happen you can guarantee it!)

FG - can see now why you felt uncomfortable. I must admit I would rather have a female healthcare professional anytime but sometimes it's just not possible - I'm not sexist just find it easier to discuss thinsg with a woman.

Mel, I can't say I enjoy it but I never wanted a proper job as such, never knew what I wanted to 'be' when we had talks at school. I see my proper job as being a mummy, anything else ontop of that is just purely whatever is going at the time, for abit of extra money coming into the house.
love my little man he is amazing :j

right - going to snuggle up and watch a film with OH. Will pop on in the morning to see if anymore replies to my scan pic question.

Oh yeah - word of warning don't watch the new film Unborn whilst pg - OH stupidly got hold of it and we started watching it the other night. He switched it off after 30mins freaked out to the max - I wasn't (hell it's only a film) but he was mortified that things could be going in on in there!

    Good night all

helen, since I have had the kids my jobs have all been, just for the bit of extra cash! I have always wanted to be a teacher...funny that tho, since I left high school in the third year as I hated it!
