Our first should have been due in March (last week), but wasn't to be. We were told to wait for two months before trying again, but then I starting thinking if we were so lucky to fall pregnancy again first month of trying that would mean a July baby, so was getting cold feet and thinking we should hold off for a few months to ensure a September or later baby.

My sis was born in July and my parents were told several times she was immature for her age and the difference between her and the older ones in her school year was very noticeable. I talked it all through with a friend, then suddenly realised she has the same birthday as my sis and she's always been top of the class and is now a top musician and music teacher, along with her two best friends with July and August birthdays being teachers with masters degrees..

Obviously, as I now have a baby due in July, my friend convinced me it wouldn't be that bad an idea and we just went for it.. ;) (again, very lucky to fall first month).

I can smell this as well! OH cant smell anything but I can. I have been through bin, rewashed all the teatowels, cleaned out my washer and I can't find where it is coming from.

With regards to the scan pictures: we scanned ours in on the works photocopier/scanner & then printed from the scans. I think they advise not to photocopy them. Anyway, that was 2 years 9 months ago & our originals still look fine so it didn't seem to do any harm. :D

A WORD OF WARNING THOUGH: 1 of our originals is darker down one side than it should be - the white border is almost black because I stupidly left that bit exposed on the dashboard of my car one day. I was very annoyed with myself! The pictures are heat (& light?) sensitive so if you laminate them the heat of the laminator will do the same & turn them into one big black square!

I have a question (I've forgotten what happened with DD even though it was only in 2-3 years ago!) When you go for your midwife appointments before your 12 week scan do you get to hear the babies heartbeat? I'm sure we first heard DD's heartbeat when we saw her at our scan, then heard her via the doppler once we saw the midwife & showed her our pictures but OH reckons we got to hear it before the scan? We rang to get our booking in appointment today & were given 24th March but I won't even be 7 weeks by this point so I thought that it seemed a little strange, I thought booking in appointments were about 8 weeks now (ours was 10 weeks last time).

I can't believe how much I have forgotten already!! :o

Nik, your pretty much ignored till you reach 20 weeks! It's all changed in the 4 years since I was pregnant with DS2. Booking appointment with mw is all paperwork, you get weighed and thats it.

Nikabella, I found that they never quite believe you on your EDD until your scan so the booking appointment can be a bit of a rough estimate. By my LMP date, my booking app was 8+5 but after the scan, working back, it was at 7+3.

I had scan at 5+3 and saw the heartbeat flashing on the screen. First time midwife tried it was at my 15+3 app, but I'd heard it at home with a doppler we bought before then.
  • I had my 16 week appointment today (even though not having downs bloods). I heard babies heartbeat and recorded it onto my phone. I also heard it at 14 weeks when I went to have some iron bloods done.

Shelvis, did you midwife find it straight away? Mine did - as if she could see how the baby was lying and knew exactly where to put the detector thingy! Made me get the giggles cos we'd been searching and searching for it the night before and couldn't pick up anything! :(
