aaaaaaaaargh what a stupid ridiculous day! i'm on a dmp and hsbc took the very last of my money out of my account to pay off a loan, i know i should have been using a parachute account but i decided when my wages stop and my MA starts i would get the MA paid into my other account and switch my direct debits over then to save work the hassle of changing my account for 2 months wages for me, my direct debits come out in the first week of the month and then any money left over from that i would just take out and then they wouldnt be able to take it from me - sorted! all good in theory, til i looked at internet banking about 11am today to see they'd taken money as soon as it had gone in, and that they'd charged me for the direct debits that had come out cos there was insufficient funds!
i rang them and calmly explained that due to their actions i now had no money to feed myself or the unborn one until my MA comes in whenever that might be, under the circumstances please could i have my money back as they could see that half the usual amount of money had actually been paid into my account which was 2 weeks holiday pay from work from february before my maternity leave started and explained that there is a back log of MA applications at jobcentreplus which means my claim has been delayed. to which their answer was i should borrow the money from my partner, from my parents, from any friend i could find, from my partners parents and maybe his friends could help?!
After being on the phone for 40 mins with him asking me what i'd spent money on in various transactions in tesco, asda and sainsburys (what on earth would you assume? moon dust perhaps??) and me asking him over and over if he thought it was acceptable to take money from a pregnant lady in financial hardship and on a dmp without warning, leaving her with no way of feeding herself, while he squirmed on the end of the phone he transferred me to a nice lady in sheffield who i now feel quite sorry for cos i burst into tears as soon as she said hello lol, she agreed to put some of the money back straight away thank god. i then rang OH to tell him what had happened and he started moaning cos there wouldnt be enough money put back to pay for council tax and telling me i should have just moved my account over and if i had there wouldnt be such a mess, obviously by this point i really needed to be moaned at more so i screamed a little irrationally and hung up on him so its gonna be fun fun fun when he comes home tonight!!
anyone know if stress is likely to trigger labour? that would be nice!!
Sorry but I'm going to have to side with your hubby on this oneAs you may or may knot know then the DFW board is one I look after and although my posting there is a little sporadic (especially since falling pregnant!) then I am afraid I could have told you that would happen... and just because they SAY they will put some of the money back in there doesn't actually mean they will... if she does then count yourself very lucky - normally you can scream and shout and they will tell you to write to headoffice - end of.
I think you can apply for money from the job centre though as emergency - also if you are going to struggle with paying council tax then call them NOW - they are much easier to deal with if you pre-warn them rather than if you fail to pay.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Sorry to hear your having diffs Emlou, hope they do put the money back in though. A similar thing happened my Mum a couple of weeks ago, a direct debit failed and she got billed £38, causing 2 more DD's to fail and they charged her another 2 x £38, I phoned them and explained what they had done, they returned 2 of the £38s, took over an hour of convincing them though.
On the subject of presents, all the suggestions sound like ideal pressies for me. I think gift cards are great ideas too.0 -

Tine- Is my brain frazzled or could your increased intake of sugeriness be contributing to the thrush too?
I haven't been able to re-join the tesco club coz it doesn't work on my webby and I keep forgetting to do it on mum or MIL's pooters  I shall try to remember tonight coz we're at MILs for birthday tea with "G to da 3" aka Chris's Great Granddad 'G':j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
