It's a difficult one. I think, in my work, i fear people will see it as a lack of dedication to the job if you are happy to have a baby and disappear from the office for x months. I know it is in my head more than anything else, and yes Sami-Bee - I am mad!

Can I ask what you do?
I have never been dedicated to a career and its not something I have any passion for so it doesn't make much sense to me (in fact the only things I have a passion for are Children, food and shopping :p:rotfl:)

I work in the City of London in an analysis job. I would not say i am 'dedicated to my career' but I am happy/content to be working full time (despite the occasional guilt I have with my DD) and I earn a very good wage. My DH also earns well but, being in London, we have a massive mortgage (as ever) and life isn't cheap. We want to be able to afford private schools etc if needed in the future which is only possible if we both work.

I also work in a very small company (6 of us) so i feel I am letting the side down a bit when I am off having a baby. I plan to take 5 months (and work from home as needed during that time) before returning in Jan 09. Have just found out that they will fully pay me throughout - yippee:T .

Actually, I think that children, food and shopping come quite high on my list of passions too - i just need to work to pay for them!

:rotfl: I think we'd all be much happier if we magically got money so we could just shop n eat ;)
I suppose its just something you have to deal with in yourself, I doubt anyone else actually thinks any less of you for having children :)
I understand it must be harder in a small company, I know when I went on maternity with Chris my tasks were spread out between the rest of the BST which was about 10 people so it was just a drop in the ocean :( and there was me thinking I was somehow special and no one else could do things like me

At my docs they don't do anything to confirm...in fact, the first time you get any confirmation from anyone other than yourself is when you go for your 12 week scan (and you breathe a sigh of relief that you haven't been imagining it!!)

mine is the same. cant wait for my scan so i know i've not been imagining it all! :o:confused:

my mw gave me the form, took it to receptionist.who said we send it off just fill in what you can. dont matter bout your nhs number we've got it.:T took 10 days to arrive!! :T got my 1st prescription on wed and they never even asked for it. just went oh you dont pay....so wanted to be asked for it :o:p

Hmmm I'd call the MW if you still have the number or try GP anyway I'm sure as she's a newborn they'd still see her if she needs to be seen. Although I'm guessing they'll say the usual just see how it goes and keep feeding as long as she's not got a temp.
The poems are on foot print and hand print things we've made when at groups ;)

Caz, just ring the Drs, I don't think it matters if she's registered or not, they should still see her. Did you still BF Abi when she had reflux? There are ways to make it a bit easier to feed, I'll look for some links for you...

ETA: Here's a linky for you Caz :)http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/reflux.html#bftips
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
