Thanks for the advice. I'm sure its too early for preeclampsia as I'm only 9 weeks today, but I will call the doc and check it out just to be on the safe side. The swelling has all gone down again this morning though, so it was probably just caused by being overtired and possibly a bit dehydrated.
Yeah it happened to me a few times too. Dehydration mainly. Good nights sleep and some water helped.0 -
Congratualations to Luc and Nathan, wonder what the story is?
Looks like a few of us are feeling a bit fragile today, lots of rows with OH being reported and a few feeling a bit rough. Hugs and Jam doughnuts all round I think!
I found myself crying at the news of david camerons son and OH didn't help by saying something he thought about it which was in fact incredibly insensitive.
Nicki, get yourself on the sofa with your feet up, my ankles are not a pretty sight at the moment!
I haven't had a row with OH but I know I am going to later, tonight is our last night as a 3person family cos OH is off to see metallica tomorrow and it will be early nights all round on Sunday, I wanted the three of us to spend it together but he hasn't told his mother not to come round which means that she will be here at 5.15 and won't leave until after 8! She will not leave until after millie has gone to bed which really p****'s me off.
Its odd cos this baby was planned and we really want it but I'm going miss it when its not just the three of us iyswim? its similar to when you have your first and you think its weird not being just a coupleMFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -

Hi Mel, hope you don't mind a bit of advice giving to a first timer like me
;), when you say walked and walked, d'you mean around the house and up and down stairs, or did you get your coat and go round the park? Just wondering how near home/hospital you felt you needed to be? Did you walk til your contractions made you think you were 4cm? What did you do when you had a strong one?
I'm sure these are all such naive questions that any non-first timers are now laughing at me!

Sorry, I didn't give you the full story. I was actually in hospital at the time, I had gone in on the friday with heavy bleeding (which stopped by sunday). I was in until the Monday, when although I had been getting mild crampy pains they just gave me codeine and told me the blood was drying and irritating my uterus. So on Monday they discharged me and I had my bags packed and was about to leave when the pains got worse and I finally managed to persuade a midwife it was more tham irritable uterus!!!! She checked me and I was 8cm dilated.....She sent me straight to a labour room.... and it is here where I mean I walked............I didn't sit, and just walked round the room backwards and forwards, only stopping when a really bad contration hit. I only used the gas and air when the midwife said I was fully dilated and offered to break my waters to get baby out quicker!!
I plan to keep walking backwards and forwards around the house/room when I am in labour this time, as I felt it really helped. It also gave me something else to focus on.

Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
thanks Mel, that's the sort of detail of people's birth stories I really like, helps me to get my head round the whole thing IYSWIM?
So are you going to try to be at home for as long as you can? Wanna borrow my TENS or pool?!
Birthing room all set up now here at Weezl towers. I can post a piccie if people are interested in that sort of thing....
Love

Millie's_Mum wrote: »sls, I swear thats been the most stressful thing about this pregnancy 'who is going to look after Millie?' As it happens I know I'm going in for a section on monday so I have an idea when I need help and she will be at school most of the time, her schoolfriends mums are being brilliant as my MIL is on holiday and my parents don't live close.
How people do it when they have a pre schooler and don't know when they will need help is completely beyond me!
My Mum will be dropping everything and walking out of work (if she is there) when she gets the call :rotfl:Its a good job she's well liked and established in her job! We spend a lot of time with my mum n dad so no worries for me they know how to do everything and what time to do them etc.
Mum also has a key to our house and a carseat in her car so if I forgot anything important either that I need at hosp or for Chris while she has him she can just go and get it herself
I have no idea how I would cope if we didn't have family to help, I suppose I'd have a HB but I'm not keen on HB in my case coz I'm a bit of a stig of the dump so would spend the whole birth apologising to the MWs for the state of my house!:o0
