We are in serious trouble.......

My wife has just been sacked for stealing from her place of employment(£25,000 over a 12 month period - honestly, I had no clue and can not look round our home and spot where the money went)

I dont have a well paid job - £1200 a month after tax - Our mortgage is £1000 a month, thanks to various re-mortgages over the years to pay off her credit card debts. We get £1000 a month in tax credits, most of it paid out again in child minding fees.

If she doesnt eventually end up in jail, solicitor is hopeful of a suspended sentence, it will still be very difficult for her to get a job and then there's the likelyhood of a civil action to try and recover the money.

When the anger subsides, I do feel that I want to stay for the sake of our two boys but with the mortgage payment being so big and we have other outgoings as well, I am resigned to the fact that our home is lost and we may split up but my head is spinning and i cant think straight so any advice would be appreciated:confused:

    Ouch :(

The only think that I can think of is something like the Citizens Advice Bureau - sounds like you have a lot of problems, one way or another...

Really good luck: I hope that this works out for you and your family. Very sad :(

    Hope this helps, good luck.

You need good legal advice and to talk to your wife.
Ask here what she's spent it on. Does she gamble? Drugs? Buy shoes?

Has she been depressed? Acting odd?

This is good advice. I came back from a prison sentence (although not for dishonesty) with the help of MrsLA and rebuilt my career. It can be done. You do need to try to understand why it happened and even perhaps talk about it on here to get to how you can move forward.

Was your wife's job finance related?

What she spent it on would be the first thing on my mind, and maybe a more serious problem than just the stealing.
She cannot spend 2 grand a month on "normal" things without you noticing.
Seriously, as have been said, you need to find out if she has a drug or gambling habit.
As for leaving her because of this - what sort of husband are you?
She has a problem and she needs your help, love and full support to get it sorted.

She might if it was to cover credit card repayments that had gradually built up through overspending over a number of years. Particularly if she had the 'purse strings'.

We need more info from the OP.
