Are they the ones you've finished mum2one? Can you ask for an ECA remark?

There the ones I've passed, currently got Y159, W112 and B301 on the go for this stufy year.

I've been told that I can't have a remark as apparently the ECA's and exams general rule of thumb is you get lower marks, but as I got over 15, can resit, but it takes about 6 - 8 weeks to get the info, need to get the points, as its complusary on business degree. xx

I just finished DD131, which is the first half of that course.

If you click "search this thread" at the top and then type in "DD131" that has been discussed a few times already on this thread. A bit of it is here

    Well done everybody.
Changing the subject. I'm very concerned about the possible rise in OU course frees. (I can't get any financail assistance)
Does anyone know if it's ok to book a course in advance and then purposely prostpone a course till a much, much later date. (In think over a year postponement) In other words pay now and save the jump in fees later.
    Anyone?

I've looked but not been able to find any information so far. :(

I want to pay now for a course I want to do in 2012. The reason being is that it will force me to do some work in the middle.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • I'm really glad I found this thread - I am starting the AA100 course in February. Would have started in October but to be honest I found the actual website so confusing I didnt know what I was doing! and thats before I start the course! I'm a grand old 50 and its my dream to have a degree in History so at least this is a start.
I got a fee waiver as I'm on Working Tax credit and only work part-time. I then got a letter saying as I lived in Scotland I was entitled to a free laptop and printer if I didnt have access to a computer -that couldn't have come at a better time as my 10 year old computer was on the way out (and has now officially died!) so I am typing this on my lovely new laptop. So not only do I have to learn my course I have to learn Windows 7 and Star office too!

Good luck with it all, don't let age be a barrier, my great plan was to get a degree before 40, but ended up chicking in 2 courses and taking the rest of that yr out, so it looks like 40 will come first March nxt yr, - but fingers crossed get there in the end. xx

Going by the regritration process, its generally courses starting within 6 months that need payment, unless the course was a once a yr course and registration had been opened, that would be the only way around it, no registration ur stuck with current price or fingers crossed the egistatrion open xx

  • Morning All :)

Just wanted to chime in and say a BIG well done to all those who have had recent passes what a lovely early Christmas pressie :)

I finally managed to get all of my modules registered for February, M150, T175 and MU123, I got around £1100 in course fee grant which left a shortfall of £90 for T175 I decided to open an OUSBA account for this sent all the signed documents off on Friday recorded delivery so fingers firmly crossed they appear at the OU early next week, I spoke to the OU and they said they had extended deadline till lunchtime on the 24th so hopefully all will be well :)

I decided to open the OUSBA account as have read that in future years if you have used an OUSBA account before you automatically qualify to use it again subject to being paid up that is, so thought it might come in usefuly for future years with tuition fees being so up in the air at the moment.

I cant believe the funding they have given me I am really pleased, I got £1100 fee grant, £1075 course grant and then nearly 3k in adult dependants and parents learning allowance I suppose there are "some" perks to living in Wales after all.........................

Well 1 week of Christmas and I find myself excited like the kids, I love Christmas and cant wait to see their faces next Saturday but for the first time in many years I am also excited about January and the new year, my course materials arriving and ultimately my modules beginning, it really does feel like the start of the 1st chapter of a whole new life I am so excited about the future :)

Anyhow well done everyone hopefully I will be here next year posting my passes :)

Hi soontobjobless, Re: AA100 - if you have some time on your hands start reading in advance some of the recommeded books. The Burial at Thebes, The Faber Book of Beasts, Faber and A World of Difference: an anthology of short stories from five continents, and Doctor Faustus the A text. It will give you a head start.
