  • Happy New Year to all fellow OU students :) I wish you all a prosperous and successful 2011 :)

I got my first module pack yesterday for MU123, I must say it is a wee bit daunting not had chance to have a proper look at it yet but there sure is plenty to do and read...................

Just waiting for the other 2 now, get rid of the christmas tree set my corner of the house back up with desk and PC etc and I am away :)

I feel really positive about 2011 and cannot wait to get started on my study :)
  • Oh hi everyone! I had no idea there was an OU thread here...

I've done A101, A215 and I'm on A363 this year. Having fun but it's hard work.

TMA is due on 6th Jan that I haven't even started yet, and can't stop procrastinating (hence I'm here instead of doing it). :-)

Good luck to everyone with their courses this year and well done on all the great results I've read about so far.
Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.

    (rant over0

Just had the documentation abour the resubmit for BU130, and they want £91, but as its a resit I can't pay via OUSBA account or Tesco voucers, coz of the 2 courses I have this yr the have gone over my grant - so I'm having to pay £300

But £91 to mark an assisgnment, ok and exam I could of understood maybe the added expense, but then again the course is £360 so guess £90 not to bad, but then I hit brick wall no 2, i'm already over my points for this yr... as 2009/2010 yr went over to Oct they've classed those points as this yr, I've got 2 x 60, 1 started other starts Feb, and done openings course - judt got the eca to do (10 points) so I now have to ring and beg to be allowed to do the submit as rthey class it as the full 40 points..... just not my day xx
So sorry to hear that mum2one! i hope it gets sorted.

I have got my fee grant sorted out now. We had put OH's War Pension on the application because it's one of the things they tell you to declare, but apparently they shouldn't take it into account. The person who processed my application didn't know it shouldn't be taken into account, so it has now been re-done and i got the full cost of the fees :j
All my books etc have arrived now, really looking forward to it.

    Hi Sarah

    I am doing 90 points this 1st year made up of MU123, M150 & T175.

I am uncertain which degree they are going to be towards yet I only know for sure it is going to be an IT related one, for the moment I have allocated them towards B29 BSC Honours Computing, I had to allocate them towards something for funding purpoes but intend to re-think and decide once and for all before I start level 2 in Feb 2012, I am leaning towards something relevant to artificial intelligence and robotics just not 100% sure yet :)

I have now had a good luck at the material for MU123 and am a little less worried now it looks really interesting, I am just working my way through the initial course guide them I am going to jump in feet first and get started on Book A see what happens..............................

I found a link on another forum for this site:

    http://www.khanacademy.org/

It has a maths section with some great how to videos for maths so have been watching a few of them in preperation .

    All the best :)

Don't ask why, but I woke up at 3am with a thought re your grant differing from hubbies, its just another guess, but as you've both been awarded grants - I know normally its for the person studying, as I would guess most households are one person studying, but the thought was when the grtant form filled in due to income, your allowed xx for 1 person, then add ons for partner children etc, it could well be that the grant is per household not per person, which if it is could explain why theres not enough in the pot for your course.

I maybe completely going off on a tangent - so apologies in advance, but may be worth seeing if theres any info relating to that on the home pages.

both me and hubby are both getting full funding, as i dont work and he is on a low income. i was told though that you only get a maximum amount per year though, hope you manage to sort it out
