Has anyone else had an email from their tutor suggesting you sign up and use Second Life, to communicate with the other students on your course, and have lectures through it?
I find the whole idea of second life a bit creepy, since the only thing i ever read about it is weirdo husbands leaving their wives for their 'second life girlfriends'. Looks like a nerds paradise.0 -

I've never heard of that before I've done a few courses, but mine started as law, but branched out into business and finance., without sounding too nosey what course are you doing, its just that on facebook, there are some groups for courses where students have set up as a get together, etc, think the social sciences do that and some of the literature courses.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I'm starting my first course at the open uni starting on the 5th - i'm doing AA100 the Arts Past and Present, hoping to work it into a history degree!
Got the whole course paid for and as my dad works at a university I can get most of my books from the uni library!
I imagine the fees will go up for the OU in the future but at the moment i'm paying much less than i would if I went to a brick uni!0 -
I'm applying for the short course B190 (Introduction to bookkeeping and accounting) right now! It's only a 10 point course, but people say it's pretty difficult and you shouldn't underestimate the amount of hours you need to put in! You have to pay for it straight away so I'm just reading through everything before I enter my card details. Will I be able to apply for finance after that? The course is £310 but I'm only going to be eligible for a partial award. I'm really annoyed about that, my partner has nothing to do with my finances, so why should I be penalised?!! Grrr. Oh well.0

You would need to apply for finance before the payment is made, (sorry) xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I just applied for the same course!!
When I applied I printed off the application form and the one for finacial support and posted them off together, within about 7days i had an email from OU with details of my student home page and a couple of days later received my course material. I can't wait to get started, hope you get it all sorted!0 -
It told me to register I had to pay for it there and then. I hope this doesn't mean I can't apply for finance!0

There's usually an option to get the registration documents sent to your home and that holds your place while you get your finance sorted.0

I didn't know this thread was here, but someone else said I should post on it
I've graduated from the OU today with a BA Honours in Business Studies :j
I've done it over four years and it hasn't been easy at all. Here's how I did it:

Friend thought it might give people the motivation to continue with the courses and do well.
Good luck with your courses everyone and hope you get to wear the gown one day! Here I go again on my own....0
