brilliant news on the degree, have you got the ceremony booked in yet? xx
Not yet. There is one in June but it's £16 per guest, so I'll have to hang on until I've saved up for the tickets.
Got my Dad's gown and hood to wear. His side of the family were all miners and my Dad was the first person in the family to get a degree through the OU. My Grandma was so proud she insisted on buying him the gown and hood. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Massive congratulations, good luck with W300, just a thought but if your doing the LLB then is the W300 and W301 part of the qualification, - if they are then you should be able to get the funding xx
Sorry mum2one, I didn't see your post until today
I already have LLB law from many years ago and am very worried about how to fund my last year (2012) as I am on very low income but have already got an ordinary degree so not eligible for grants. So I wondered whether I could apply for a discretionary award? Has anybody in a similar situation i.e. with a degree, done so successfully? Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -
THanks Gemmzie - am studying AA307 this year0

I didn't know this thread was here, but someone else said I should post on it

I've graduated from the OU today with a BA Honours in Business Studies :j
I've done it over four years and it hasn't been easy at all. Here's how I did it:
Friend thought it might give people the motivation to continue with the courses and do well.
Good luck with your courses everyone and hope you get to wear the gown one day!
That's brilliant - I'm currently studying for BA Modern Language Studies and my plan is to be finished in 4 years as well (currently 2 years in...). Now the level 3 courses are kicking in I'm beginning to wonder if I've bitten off more than I can chew. 120 points this year, 4 children, part-time job and hubby working away from home - if I can survive this year I'll be ok! Just nobody talk to me in September because, according to my study planner, i will hav eno free time at all!!£2,012 in 2012 # 219£1032 / £2,012 (as at 1/7)0 -
Camis - good luck with the level 3s, got my 1st level 3 starting next week, got B301 business, but I'm still doing E112 level 1 sports course, just doing 3rd assisgnment, but loseing the will of it... Ur get there, sounds like you've got ur hands full already, xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Morning,
Another that didnt know this thread was here
I'm currently studying towards a BSc Open and have just started T307.
Original plan was to stop after it as that will give me the BSc but now thinking that if I get a good mark in it I might go for the Hons.
Not sure how much good the Hons will do though, ie is it worth the extra effort and money ??
So far I've done:-
M150 Data, computing and information (2008)
MT264 Designing applications with visual basic (2008)
T216 Cisco Networking CCNA (2009)
T224 Computers and processors (2010)
credit transfer of 95 points from my HNC in electrical engineering.
So if(when) I pass T307 (innovation : designing for a sustainable future) I should have the required 300 points
Been through the whole range of emotions with the OU, really enjoyed T216 and really REALLY hated MT264
This year will be tough as I just been made redundant, got my first tma due in four weeks, got a microsoft 12 day boot camp in 3 weeks and hope to pass the external CCNA exam in that time as well !!

How did you find M150? I started in February on M150 and T175. I studied IT at college for 2 years and i've worked in IT for the past 10 years. I'm reading through the provided textbooks, but for example on Unit 1, they said it was seperated into 4 small sections which should take 2 hours each to study, so 8 hours in total. I read through the document in just over an hour. I'm not boasting or anything, I'm a bit confused as to whether i'm doing it properly! The online activities are really basic stuff, but i have trouble with the definitions. Like I know what a computer is, obviously, but when it comes to 'defining' what a computer is, I struggle with the correct wording!0 -

I've found on some of my courses what they allocate as a weeks work, I can do in a couple of hrs, and like u think have I missed anything, then there be a week where could throw the books out of the window, usually tma time!
Also don't forget if u've worked / got experience then ur a step ahead of someone else.
When I did W100 intro to law, I had some knowledge as I'd previously sued my employer, and been involved in couple of cases, yet another student who had done all the higher law courses and needed that qualification to get her BA Hons, where as another gentleman, had never studied before and was doing the law to see where his solicitor was coming from over a case he was involved in. Would say as long as ur happy with the TMA scores ur on the right track xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Wow what a great thread! I have just sent off my request for credit transfer, want to go for the degree in International Studies.
My credit transfer should cover Level 1 but all the Level 2 courses start in October now so want to do DB123 and DD131 (will get me back into study after a 4 year break), then A217 later in the year.OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -
