Fab, thanks mum2one. I was gonna go for it last year, but thought Id wait for any kinks to be ironed out and did an environment course instead (Im planning to somehow mix environment, ethics and finance..lol)

Im in N ireland (region 12 I think). Am hoping for a great tutor this time as I was disappointed with support in last few courses (or maybe I was spoilt in the first two with tutors who maybe went above and beyond?!)

Ive been browsing the OU podcast site and finding it fascinating, tho not everything Ive listened to is part of this course - been accounting stuff, environment etc. Watching one now about second life and Im tempted to check it out.

Anyone here on Second Life with OU?? (No idea how it works yet)

Ps, as Ive seen a few people list what they have done previously, heres my list, all OU courses.

    Y161 Introducing Environment
DD100 Introduction to Social Sciences (found this one rather painful, and think only reason I didnt drop out was cause my tutor was wonderful)
DB123 You and Your Money - easy enough if you have lurked around here much!
U116 Environment : Journeys through a Changing World - incredibly fascinating couse and my daughter who was 7 at the time, studied a lot if it with me.
    NEXT DB234
then in 2012 U216 Environment OR U213: International Development

Sounds like you've got a good mixture of courses, I know what you mean about tutors I had the same one for four courses, he was absolutely brilliant, even stay in touch with him.
I started DD100, ended u chucking it at TMA 2, it was just too heavy going, love the sound of the environment courses. I did the 1st yr of law, then stayed on business / finance side, although presently doing £112 Sports and fitness, need some extra points at level 1, glad when thats done!. xx

Got to say a big thank you to my OU studies - they came in very iseful (B201, B203 - Business courses), - I able to explain to a friend about profit and loss sheet and statement of affairs, and balance sheet. It sounds daft but as I'm a stay at home mum, it was nice to use the grey cells xx

I'm just wondering if anyone else pre-registering has got an email or something acknowledging it?

I've not heard a thing from OU since I did the online form so am wondering if it went wrong maybe.
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

  • I haven't received any acknowledgment for one course I pre-registered online for, at the end of pre-registration it gave the date the registration opens (in my case, tomorrow) so I'll expect some response after that.

Didn't it give you something similar online?

Thanks for your reply. No, it didn't say anything. The course starts in October so maybe it is too soon yet.

What worried me is that there was a big red "Sorry" then a message saying my transaction had been completed, but nothing else. As it is the first time I've registered I just wasn't sure what to expect.

Hey RacyRed, the course I was referring to also starts in October (Introducing Religions A217) and it said registration opened 12th March so hopefully we should hear something in the next 2 weeks. After that, I'd just chase it up with OU over the phone before attempting reregistration.

I've pre-registered for an October course and haven't heard anything more about it yet. Registration closes in August so if you haven't heard anything by late July contact them.

    Good thinking! Thanks Littlestar.

I want to do AA100, The arts past and present, and can see on the website that registration has now opened :j
