    That's exactly what I'm doing :)

I've been plodding along just fine- thankfully I'd pushed myself to get ahead when just before xmas my grandson was born...his dad walked out...I ended up doing lots of baby stuff...decorating their new house...etc etc. So I only fell a week or two behind

Must admit, DD101 is incredibly dull, but DSE101 is quite a nice course.

I'm having a complete turnaround mentally though and no longer want to do the Crim & Psyc studies I signed up for. Sadly, the course I'm veering towards doesn't count either of my current modules- so I might end up having to do the open.

    Good luck- you'll be fine!

have you used the on course option chooser, its puts our courses in and comes up with suggestions, I've gone in different directions with level 1 courses, - law, sports, business, money, so m plan aim for BA hon business, use the others (add 1 or 2 small courses) and that get me a foundation degree, so its not gone to waste as such. xx

I seem to spend more time on it than on my coursework at the moment...

    Hello Everyone!

I was just wondering whether MSE had an OU thread and true to form her it is!! FAB!!

Anyway, I'm just about to sign up for another course, it just depends on how the bank account looks closer to registration time as to whether I do a 15 point or 30 point course.

I have put down to do an open degree but upon further reflection I'm looking at Environmental Studies. I ultimately have an MSc in International Transport and Logistics in mind but that's a loooooong way off in la-la land :)

Has anyone else done environmental courses btw?

Good luck to anyone taking another course.

Bit scary just had my forms to download for next yrs funding, -werid let me do the one course, then wants to pay for the 2nd, - so ring them this week, quicker if they do the paperwork, as my grant won't cover both courses, leaves about £300 short........ More money but be worth it, thinking, I haven't got this years over with don't stress me! xx

I'm on grants as well and ended up dropping out a few yrs ago, I dropped 2 courses the Ou were ok.
Without being nosey how far are you through the B123, just thinking as its assisgnment based, bar the eca, your tutor can give an extension, generally its a week, but exceptional circumstances they can give 3 weeks, may be worth looking into that as an option. May also be worth speaking to your tutor, touch wood had some brilliant tutors, I know one course got myself in such a pit that I ended up bursting into tears on the phone to him, he was one on a million. The OU will do everything they can do help, hope u get everything sorted ok.

Just remember you take care xx

Its if its 3 fails / pull outs etc then they put a 3 yr restriction on your studying
Thank you for the reply. I was really stuck on TMA3 but managed to finish it. I always get really stressed over my TMAs.

Glad you got through TMa03, don't worry I'm awful to be around at tma time, like pmt x 1000.... I just had an absolute panic with my last assisgnment it was the 1st for B301 (managing strategy), really thought lost the plot - didn't make sense, then I was too short on words, meant to be 2000, got it upto 1950, - and got the results back 75, I nearl fainted in shock, was going to ask the tutor was he sure he'd marked it right, but thought better not. I always think if there is someone who doesn't have at least one wobble is a genuis, xx

Your do brilliantly, the eca was ok, be honest a little bit harder than the others as its like other ecas brings it all together, for me I got stuck on the last question, had half an idea, but knew had done ok on the other parts. Just take a big breath, and treat it as a normal tma. xx

Hi all, not started my courses yet, but have mapped out my studies, and plan to do a BSc Open, mainly Earth and Planetary Science, with the aim to to a PDGE afterwards to become a Primary Teacher, I've been told by a few Uni's the Open Degree is a good one for them, particularly as all the courses I'm doing are covered in Primary Schools, very happy with that as it's all subjects I can't wait to learn more about!

Has anyone done an Open Degree?

My courses are as follows, and hope to start my 1st in May...

    S197 How the Universe works
    S194 Introducing Astronomy
    S151 Maths for Science
    S186 Volcanoes, Earthquakes and Tsunamis
    S154 Science starts here
    Y156 Understanding Children

These won't technically go towards my degree, but I need them (apart from Y156) to do the Level 3 courses I want!!!

    S104 Exploring Science
    S216 Environmental Science
    S276 Geology
S283 Planetary Science and the search for life
S279 Our dynamic planet : Earth and Life
    S282 Astronomy
    S330 Oceanography
    S339 Understanding the Continents
    S366 Evolution
    S396 Ecosystems

Phew, seems a lot, but can't wait to get started :)

Hi there - doing K101 introducing health and social care at the moment and just signed up to my next course K218 working with children, young people and families on my way to a Childhood and Youth Studies degree. Inspired OH to sign up for a degree too - he thinks he's like to retrain as a primary school teacher. We've got a 2 year old and another one due in 4 weeks so think the next few years are going to be mental! I'm really enjoying the course so far and doing :jwell on my TMAs so far. The long term plan is for us both to be working in education once the kids are both school age so we have a better work life balance and plenty of family time for days out and stuff. Both sets of parents are seriously chuffed that their offspring (us) have finally got ourselves organised to get proper qualifications - it's only 15 years since I left school and 26 for my OH!
