Stiltwalker, I'm the same as you, 15 years out of school and finally embarking on a degree! Hope to end with the same result as you and go into Primary Teaching
my parent's are also well chuffed their Daughter's off into 'professional' learning, as are my kids who I hope, I will inspire to do things the traditional way, and not have to juggle parenthood, a job, AND studies. As I tell them, they have my mistakes to learn from, so they don't need to make the same ones I did lol. I have to say though, I'm enjoying learning this time round much more than the 1st!

Thanks Gemmzie, How's the workload with it? I'll be starting in October when DS is 5 months and DD 2 and a half!
Gambit27, Think I'd like to be on the support side of education working with individual kids who need bit extra, both my parents were teachers my mum in primary and my dad a special needs head so got a fair idea of where I'm going. Always enjoyed the studying bit of education but was always a bit of an old head on young shoulders and didn't really enjoy the social side so the idea of being stuck in halls with the same sort of people I'd been at school with didn't appeal, I think if I'd know I could have done OU back then I would have done. OU is becoming a bit of a family tradition, my mum did an OU degree when she was a SAHM with me and my brother, said brother is 1 module off finishing his and now me and OH are joining the party!0 -
It's pretty heavy for a 30 point course - there's a lot of reading and it's very online based. Still, if you have children or have worked with children, it's fairly easily to apply. The ones who are struggling don't have direct experience. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

30 points? Says 60 on my module guide! Will have to double check when the paperwork comes through. Both my parents were teachers so got plenty of support and been hearing the war stories all my life so should be ok. Good luck with your course.0

Yep sorry, it's 60, was confusing it with my other course. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Woohoo! Did my exam today!
Am really annoyed though - they seated me right at the front but I get rest breaks for which they made me leave the room by the stairs at the back. So I had to walk past everyone. I was also shocked at how easy it would've been for me to cheat if I wanted to. Last time they made me sit in a corner of the main room.
Also, everyone had put their bags at the front of the hall so when they'd finished they all disturbed me as I still had time left. Two girls decided that right next to my desk was the best place to loudly discuss their examsYou know, if the invigilators tell you to be quiet coz there's still an exam going on and it looks like someone's still working then it's probably a good idea to be quiet.

Aha, I've been wondering if there was a thread for this. Best of luck to everyone doing exams at the moment. I'm currently doing a 30 point course to get me back into OU, with the view to doing at least a 60 point in October. My main questions, has anyone attempted 120 points whilst working full time? Any feedback gratefully appreciated.LBM 27/12/14.

Its a long shot but can you ask as the circumstances that you do the exam in a seperate room.
I'm disabled, and have the rest breaks, but mobility is a major issue, and I have my exams locally, on 1 on 1, its a godsend. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
