Its a long shot but can you ask as the circumstances that you do the exam in a seperate room.

I'm disabled, and have the rest breaks, but mobility is a major issue, and I have my exams locally, on 1 on 1, its a godsend. x
I was told that because I only get 30 mins I get to be in the main room

It was reading this thread last year that prompted me to apply to the OU to do a course, so just wanted to check back now I have finished in case it prompts someone else!

I did my exam for K101 Understanding Health and Social care last Thursday. Such a relief to finish! I averaged 90% on all my TMAs and was hoping to aim for a distinction overall, but had some major personal problems coming up to the exam so would just be delighted to pass now! If anyone is thinking about this course, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have worked in the NHS over 30 years, but I still learnt so much from this course. It helped me to consolidate what I have been doing all these years, and hopefully I will pass and get the certificate. The OU really is a fantastic oppurtunity for people to further their education. The support and course materials are excellent, can't speak highly enough of it really!
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

I really want to do a degree in English Literature but the prospect of exams scares me a bit. I have M.E and severe anxiety so I don't know how I'd cope with exams, either physically or mentally/emotionally. I know that certain measures can be put in place to help people who have disabilities but I'm not sure if I started a degree how I'd go about asking. =/

It may be possible to select courses so that you never have to do an exam, but I'm not sure about English Lit specifically.

But when you register you tick a box saying you want to know about disabled arrangements and then they fall over themselves trying to help. So you don't actually have to ask, because they ask you. If your first few courses don't have exams they won't ask about exam arrangements til it's time, but they'll remember. And once you've got your exam arrangements in place they won't change them unless you say so so you needn't worry about losing entitlements.

You may also be eligible for Disabled Student Allowance - you don't get money, but stuff to help you study. I got a new computer with Dragon Naturally Speaking software, an adapted mouse, and gel supports for my mouse and keyboard. You do need an assessment for this, and usually the assessor comes to your house but this means you can have a friend with you if you wish. The assessor can make suggestions on what exam support you might benefit from and they can also suggest things you might not have thought of.

    Hi,
Does anyone know if level one Tma questions change every feb or october start ? Or yearly.
I fancy doing A177 and came accross the tma questions - I wondered if they would change.

As far as I am aware, they change the questions slightly for every presentation of the course.

Yorkies18 - thanks - that make sense. Shame they seemed quite reasonable questions!
  • Hello all!! I'm currently doing D240, have signed up for DD305 and SDK228 in October although not sure what I want to end up with? I'm thinking about teaching and an open degree won't help much with that.

    Have previously completed... Y157, DD100, DSDE141, T189, U212.

They change the questions slightly. One course I did gave us a choice of any relevant theories and we had to discuss 2. The previous time had had 2 specified. The latter time changed even more.

They're not going to be a huge change, because each time students get to the same part of the book by the TMA date so the same material will be assessed. But they can't be the same because people do try to cheat or even just google for inspiration and come across stuff by accident.

Is anyone here doing DB123 Your and your money?

I'm thinking of doing it because I want to learn more about personal and eventually corporate financial planning but I'm not sure how complex it is? It mentions

Does anyone have a course syllabus I could look at?

Also, is anyone doing any other financial related courses through the OU?
