I have just signed up to do SK124 Understanding Autism, and looking forward to getting my parcel through the post!

I'm thinking of taking Sk124. When you receive the materials, will you let me know what you think please?

Yes, please do tell! I wanted to do this for my first module but narrowly missed the cut off date for registration for this year, so I have pre registered for next year. I am doing SK185 instead, so far so good ...

Newleaf - PM me please. I may have something for you!
  • Honesty - a month without any courses or deadlines (I did 130 points last year, including a resi).

And I've broken. I've gone and enrolled on S330 Oceanography and SA188 Archaeology.

I even paid the full fee for SA188 because I didn't qualify for funding.

    Madness.

Why do I do this to myself?

I'm wary of working towards an Open Degree simply because I'm sure I'd spend my lifetime explaining to an employer exactly what I'd studied/what it meant.

After you've done the modules, you can print off a Student Academic Summary (a pdf you can access from a link on the left hand side of the Student Profile on the website), which gives all the answers a prospective employer could possibly wish for.

In the intervening period, it is reasonable to put on a CV First Class Hons BSc, Open University, with variety of modules concentrating upon Genetics, Biochemistry and Physiology (or whatever it is that Sciencey types do there ;))

the advantage of this is that you can emphasize the modules that would be most interesting to a particular employer, or that you have completed a wide variety...

I am about to repeat a French course that I studied this year; I did well in the assignments, but did not submit the final ECA (end of course assignment), due to being disorganized. I am now really regretting this, as I need to pass this course in order to apply for further training for a career change.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

mum2one - the course restarts in February - in 8 weeks' time. I have been very indecisive about whether or not to re-register for the course, as it costs a lot of money, but I suppose it should be worth it in the long run: my French will continue to improve, and it will help me in my long-term aim to be a translator.

Good luck with your results! Which course are you taking next?

lillies7779 - hope you get your essay done in time - I'm sure you'll be fine, as you say you are loving the course, so that's a good incentive to get on with it!
