    Hi all,

Not sure if I should start a new thread for this - I feel a bit like I'm hijacking someone else's!

I am thinking of doing an OU course (L194 Portales) - just for fun, and I was wondering if there's anyone that has done this course in the past with any information or comments on it.

I'm completly new (well I did a very brief 10 week introductory course for "holiday Spanish") to Spanish, I have other commitments, but I would really love to start learning Spanish properly, but it isn't my main priority. I want to learn just for fun.

How much time did you allocate each week to the course?

How did you find the course?

Any comments or advice greatfully recieved.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi

Sorry don't know about that course, but can give you a rough estimate on timeings etc

    30 point course - est 8hrs a week
    60 point course est 16hrs a week

I'm on my 5th course, some I flew through, BD123 Money course, that was 30 point, what they recommended to be a weeks work, I was getting through 3 weeks in 1, yet now on b203 Level 2 business, averaging about 16hrs - as per guidelines, some parts sink in quicker that others.

I leave the books handy and pick up and down, do set myself time scales, but make sure that I take time away from the books. xx

Does anyone have experience of OU exams? I've managed to get myself into a panic over mine, and it's not even until October!

At present I am studying towards a law degree. last October I sat my first written exam, like you I was worried and spent quite sometime trying to identify how to make things easier. However I worried needlessly, if you do the work you will find you know the subject.

The exam is held in a hall relatively near you, when you are waiting outside, a map will show you the area that your course will sit the exam. You will find your name on the desk with the paper, as you did with your school exams. No phones etc allowed 3 hours and then it is over.

Ur be fine, honesltly, I did my 1st exam in Oct last yr, I'd got my arm strapped up as the hosptial thought I'd broke a bone, sods law the arm I write with, so how the heck they managed to understand my writing I don't know.

I paniced, but got through it and have another exam in June.

Before the exam all the details be posted on your course website, good luck xx

My tutor (well, he's not actually my official tutor, he's just the one I go to tutorials with as I can't make my own) said he's never known anyone to fail if they didn't deserve to because they didn't put any effort in, which is a bit reassuring. But I'm still scared as it's my first exam in years and it's 3 hours

Anyone else annoyed that they're changing tesco voucher payments so they can only be used for level 1 courses? I've been saving mine and have no idea what to spend them on now!

I registered for DB123 with the intention of doing a foundation degree in Finance, but alot of it is work based learning which is abit of a bummer! So now I think I'm going to work towards BA/BSc (Honours) Economics and Mathematical Sciences.

I'm really looking forward to it, gives me something to do in the evenings instead of just sat infront of the tele

    DD202. I've already done DB123, B120 and I'm just finishing MST121, but they don't have exams!

I'd love to do Economics and Mathematical Sciences, but my maths is a bit weak (well, a lot!), so I'm wimping out and doing Social Sciences instead, so I can do the economics ones without any nasty maths to scare me. I've just (10 mins ago!) handed in my first TMA for it, hopefully I did ok.
