In summary, after 1st June 2010 they can only be used against level 1 courses.

That is unbelievable, the thing is without being rude to anyone, but surely if someone wanted to study they would do with Tesco vouchers, by limiting it to Level 1, there not opening up the market, but merely closeing it to those who need it for their remainder of there courses. Most proberly costing too much!!xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I suspect it's to do with the government funding cuts affecting all universities.
In addition as more people are choosing to go back and study at universities, then why should they continue with such a subsidy?I'm not cynical I'm realistic

There's a Facebook group about the Tesco Clubcard, support the cause - they are contacting the media...

When I had a laptop, they paid for it to be insured on the house ins under full cover, accendital cover, damage, drinks spilt etc.
Its a very big long shot, but may be worth a try, as you technically have not had your computer grant from the OU, would it be worth applying as thou you were a new student. (cheeky but worth a try!!)
I don't think they understand repairs just damage....xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi!
I'm thinking of doing an OU course (after deciding on either that or A Levels) and was wondering if someone could help me with a couple questions about funding it all!
I think I can apply to have funding from the OU. However, how do I go about doing all this? I emailed them and they said I have to apply for funding after I have registered my interest. If I did have to pay some course costs, when would I have to pay them? (as wouldn't be able to afford them straight away).
Also, what documents would I have to provide to gain some finance support?
I have already done a year of university (dropped out after 1st year) therefore, would that be any problem in trying to apply for funding? I can't see any problem with it, but thought I might aswell ask.
And has anyone done any of the language courses via the OU? (thinking of doing one of them!) If so, how did you find them? I've heard good reviews about the OU so really am considering studying with them.
Thanks!0 -

There's no reason for either to take responsibility as the DSA covering it was due to being at your old university and you are no longer there. If you end up DSA from the OU then you'll get the support (or a new laptop) but until you're assessed as eligible for DSA they've got no responsibility. Are you eligible for a computer grant? Can you use that?
Don't know if it helps you but when I got my laptop during my first degree it was covered for maintanence for 4years (the duration of my course). I left after two due to serious illness but as the maintanence cover was paid upfront I could still contact the company responsible for maintanence to get things fixed for those extra two years...0 -

I have cover for it for three years whether I finished my course or not wit the company, so they should fix it but they need instruction from a uni. It's a simple letter but neither will send it.
I don't know if I'm eligible for the computer grant, haven't tried. I thought as I have a DSA laptop it'd probably be a No.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Just so you know, they don't do the computer grants if you live in Scotland.

the computer grant of £250 (was when I had mine) is towards a computer if you dont have one, when I had mine I had the £250 student grant for the years study, the £250 computer grant (had to pay for computer b4 hey refunded me the £250), at the time (3yrs ago), I brought a laptop at £600. but as my dsa assesment said I needed a laptop rather than a desktop they refunded me the £100 difference.
The computer grant is based with the OU it won't matter what youmay or may not had in the past. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
