Its not that bad is it, I'm due to start it in May, thou on other courses there was 6 who had done/doing it... hated it.... trouble is I need it for my Foundation Degree xx
Whilst I can see that it's useful to learn from experiences, I don't see how anyone can teach you to do that successfully if they don't know you. For this reason, for the first TMA you're mostly marked on your writing and language - well if I wanted that, I would have done the "start writing essays" course. For my next TMA I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing; one part says for the last 6 weeks I should have been answering questions in the tutor group forum. Either there are 2 tutor group forums and one is well hidden so I haven't found it, or my tutor hasn't been posting questions. An email about this has gone unanswered.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Hi i am really thinking about doing the computing and mathematics degree at open university. I have already done a hons degree at Derby Uni but wanted to do this degree as this is what i enjoy.
What are the costs involved for a degree? Also do you have a set timetable. Like you do level 1 modules over the 1st year and so on. Or can i study as much as i want? Hope that makes sense. How long would it take to do the degree?0 -

All the information is on the OU website pages.
But to answer your questions:
1. It takes on average 6 years to study for a degree.
2. You do level 1 courses first then do level 2 etc.
3. As you have a first degree already you have have to pay for the degree yourself, or if some of your modules are relevant to work you can get your employer to sponsor you. However you can use Tesco Clubcard vouchers to pay towards it.
4. You are advised to study a maximum of 60 points a year. However some people study more. It really depends on whether you want to spend all your free time studying and on the other commitments you have. Most people find studying 60 points hard.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Not this presentation, was planning it but ended up doing too much studying for work, am planning it next time around though. How're you finding it?It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

i think we are just incredibly talented!
have you made a start on this TMA yet?
Nope! I have looked at it and the first part is unbelievably dull.Thankfully, the second half of the course the TMAs are a little more interesting and allow more exploration and structured argument (you can have a peak at the second guide on your course website under the course materials bit).So looking forward to getting onto that much more than anything on this halfIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
