Oooh! Thanks for this :) I've just had my books through for B201 and they are tiny (compared to B203 anyway!).

Yes, the globalisation book is tiny, and you would study it between week 20 to 22 I assume.
Most of the material to study is online and not from the books, so good thing to remember.

You would need to learn to recognize forces that support or resist changes in organisation, such as using PESTLE forces (Political, Economic, Sociocultural, Technological, Legal and Environmental) - or using other methods.

You would study about organisational culture, about national culture (such as a flag, which is a symbol, or cultural notions such as clothes we wear on special occasions and so forth) ... likewise you would study about type of companies, Matrix, M-Form, Functional, Simple - for instance 1-2 entrepreneurs would be classified in the simple form, there is no hierarchy between them (they are both in the same level) and so forth.

It's a very interesting course, I enjoyed studying it. Good luck! :D

Sounds like B203; already covered most of it on there, but it is one of those courses you have to do :(

I'm not familiar with B203, however you could be studying some similar things, but I doubt concepts of Globalisation, Corporate Social Responsibility and Regulation (Block 3) would be ones you studied in B203 as well....

    Hi,

Been thinking about doing a degree with the OU for a long time and today, I've just registered for my first module!

I'm doing The Arts Past & Present (AA100) and intend to complete an English Literature & Creative Writing degree.

Just want to ask, are there people out there who are working full time and doing 120 credits per year? If so, is it possible?

I've just enrolled for one module this year but I really don't think I can spend 6 years doing this degree. I'd like to get this done in 3, possibly 4 years - tops.

I'd be interested to see how others are managing their workload and how much they've taken on.

That is my aim, but it all depends on what funding i get and how much i can afford to pay on top.

It is possible to get 120 credits done in just over a year doing part time if you would struggle doing 2 courses. For example, I started OU in Feb this year and am just finishing my first module and will be starting my 2nd in Oct (this will finish may next year). so although I have done it only one course at a time I will have finished my full 120 credits in just over a year. Hope that helps :)

You do dip into it, but B201 is a lot more in depth.
  • Hi all :j I'm currently an OU student and have just discovered this thread! I did DD101 Social Sciences last year, and starting my second module in the next few weeks, which is U116 Environment. I'm working towards an Open Degree, since I hadn't really got a career in mind when I started. I wish I'd started years ago though! I've even managed to talk my OH into signing up for next year :)

  • Hi I passed AA100 last year, 66%, a very mediocre grade, but I found my essay skills improved greatly on the course.
This Octobers challenge is beginners Spanish L194.
My intention is to do a 50/50 language/humanities degree so Humanities with Spanish and either History or classical studies.

    Anyone doing anything similar ?

Has anyone done DD102? I'm doing an English Language and Literature degree but this module is my year 1 free choice- I've just completed AA100- I got my course materials through for DD102 and freaked!! It all looks very hard and a long way from the cosy confines of AA100...!!

Ah, actually. That does help. It doesn't seem so bad when you think about it like that. :)
