Hi peeps, I am looking to sign up for Q65 but as I haven's studied in the Uk apart from a few Vision2Learn courses I am a bit scared that I am going to find it a bit too much! Anyone that is currently studying this can please give me some reassurance?
Also how does it work if you haven't passed an exam- can you re sit? Perhaps someone can direct me towards a place which can answer silly questions like this one? Thanks a lot!
Hi Purcel!
I'm also thinking about signing up to Q65 this year... I think I just need a push in the right direction!

Hi all
I have just sent off my very first EMA for the B120 module. I enjoyed studying and the actual TMAs were not that bad once I read through the question a few times. Then it was a matter of linking the concepts and models learnt through that book to tie in with the case study.
The only problem I had was being motivated to do the actual work and follow the study planner. As always you start out with good intentions but it soon drifts off. Some days I found myself ploughing through the book and other days I couldn't even be bothered to look at any of it, but with a full time job and family to sort, I'm surprised I did any of it!
I'm glad I chose the OU though. The tutorials were good and my tutor was very helpful. The only issue I had was sometimes the TGF was very quiet, so half the time I felt I was chatting to myself to get my TMA points.
But that's me done and dusted until I start BU130 in October. I have received the books for this and it looks so laid back compared to B120. Fingers crossed the next TGF is a bit more livelier.
I did wonder about doing two modules together to get year one out of the way quicker but with my job (and sometimes demanding boss!), I didn't want to push myself too much.
Good luck with your studies everyone0 -
Hi,
Been thinking about doing a degree with the OU for a long time and today, I've just registered for my first module!
I'm doing The Arts Past & Present (AA100) and intend to complete an English Literature & Creative Writing degree.
Just want to ask, are there people out there who are working full time and doing 120 credits per year? If so, is it possible?
I've just enrolled for one module this year but I really don't think I can spend 6 years doing this degree. I'd like to get this done in 3, possibly 4 years - tops.
I'd be interested to see how others are managing their workload and how much they've taken on.0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm 29 years old, I'm a student with the OU studying for a degree named Computing & IT and Business, currently about to submit my TM470 project and start B301 in mid-October.
So assuming the project goes well (hopefully, although in theory even a grade of 40 will do but I don't feel it's a bad project and definitely it's worth much more in my opinion) ... so for me B301 is going to determine my degree classification ... For a 2:1 (Upper Second Class) I must score a Grade 2 in B301 (which is to get 70 or more, both with the assignments and with the exam ... or oh well, I guess 67-69ish might do as well probably) ... otherwise it would be a 2:2 Degree (Lower Second Class).
How many of you have been in this boat before?
I've read so much about B301 and I've seen it's such a difficult module, requires lots of critical thinking and analysis ... it's not like a computing project or module which is more straightforward ...
I managed to do well in B201 (ended with Grade 2), but I think B301 is such a different course, I feel like it requires me to study so much just to secure a good grade with it ...
If anyone is in the same boat please feel free to post ... I haven't posted here before, I only discovered this forum today ... overall I did enjoy my studies with the OU, it just feels slightly annoying my entire degree classification is going to depend on my result of a very difficult module...
Good luck to all of you!0 -

I really enjoyed studying B201, what worked best for me also for a good grade was to summarize every week you study in your own words into a word document, this way when the exam day comes it's easy for you to revise - so summarize what you study in this course, don't rely on reading material from the website itself!0 -

Hi there!
I did BU130 in 2012 - it isn't laid back! Get as much done now as you can with regards to the books as it is so different from B120; B120 is more guided learning, and BU130 is very much student led learning.
And definitely make a start on the learning diary.0 -

Oooh! Thanks for thisI've just had my books through for B201 and they are tiny (compared to B203 anyway!).

Hi all
Little update from me. Today is the EMA date for DB123, and another due Thursday for LB160. B201 is a go, so only 3 modules away from a full BA Hons...didn't think I'd get here!0
