Thought you might have done! - if you use this calculator you can work out what grades you need for each course you want to do http://cleveret.net/?page_id=29 - hopes its some help

I'm an OU student with a quick query, so probably best not start up a new thread.

I've done two level 1 modules and passed both. However, this year, I did my first level 2 module. My TMA score overall was 52 and my exam score was 40, so I got a Grade 4 Pass. If I were to continue at this level, I would only end up with a 3rd.

I've spoken to a couple of people though, both think that because of this bad module, even if I did brilliantly at my last three, I would still end up with a 3rd. Is that true? If it is, then I suppose the next question should be, is it worth continuing with? A 3rd won't get anything with regards to helping at an interview.

Just wondering if it's worth getting the grants if I can't really pass, that's all.

    Thanks.

Don't worry too much about one bad pass at level 2. If it is compulsory course, it will count towards your classification (how many credits was it worth? 30? 60?). However, they take THE BEST 120 points from compulsory level 2 courses and THE BEST 120 points from compulsory level 3 courses (which are double weighted so more important than level 2!). If you get at least pass 3 from now on, you will have your 2.2. You can still get 2.1 probably if you pass all the rest with pass 2.

What you can do is, go to qualifications planner (available on the left hand site of your Student Home, choose ALL the courses you have to do and those that make up your minimum credit requirement for a degree. Then save the plan. Then, underneath, you can see Predict your degree classification. If you click on that, you can then play around putting in the grade you feel you would be able to achieve and see what class you can get with different grades.

I am on my last course, have guaranteed 2.1 (even if I would pass my last level 3 with pass 3 or 4) and if I am good and get distinction, I get a first.

Have fun playing and good luck!

    Hi guys,
I've done W100 and W200, and I'm now looking at health based courses to retrain as a midwife...a little out of left field I know

You were braver than me, I did W100, but chicked out before W200, didn't fancy the look of the exam.

Good luck with the new career choices, xx

Next spring I'll be starting a PG.Dip in Software Development, leading to an MSc :)
  • I've just transferred my credits from uni over to the OU to continue towards an Open Degree. Start BXA204 in October and B201 in January. Is/has anyone doing/done either of these modules?

Done B201 its brilliant, everything is all laid out for you and you study a sector at a time.
BXA204 - is that the online version, I started B204, but had to pull out (personal circumstances), but got as far as TMA 2 with it. The trick to B204, (if it is still the same this yr) there are 10 extra points up for grabs with each TMA 5 points of that was for taking part on the online discussions and 5 points for writing a review of one of the discussions. xx
